high impacts, the areas you see in the pink, that's 18 inches of snow that's a good chunk of the catskillsdson valley down through the poconos i think when new york city is all said and done, could easily be over a foot, maybe 16 inches. if heavier snow bands set up over the top of new york city, 20 inches is even possible the wind gusts, too, especially coastal areas, 40 to 50-mile-per-hour wind. if we get the wet snow in the high winds, we'll get scattered power outages. it's not super dramatic but we will see some. here's one of the things we'll be watching in new york city can we make it into the top ten list for snowfalls to get to the top five you need at least 21 inches to get into the top ten, you need 18 inches it is possible we'll find out later on today. >> i'm hoping we don't get there, bill. that's just me thank you for that we'll see you throughout the course of the day, i'm sure. bill karins at nbc. >>> still on deck for the show, president biden and republican lawmakers set to come together today to try to get a deal done on coronavirus stimulus. we have the latest on where

the highest snow totals, poconos, catskills, hudson valley, berkshires, all the way back down into areas southeast connecticut, including new york city. and as far as the max wind gusts are going to go, not quite blizzard criteria in many areas, but close to it with high wind gusts up to 40 to 55 miles per hour. and that could mean downed tree lines and scattered power outages. the worst of the storm is expected to be today, right during the middle of the daylight hours. and we'll see quite a scene in areas like new york city, where we bring in meteorologist janessa webb. and janessa, how much snow so far, right in the center of manhattan? >> reporter: you know, bill, you can see the roadways. they are covered in this area. we've seen about 3 to 4 inches, as you just said, and we've seen from the mayor that state of emergency for new york city starts at 6:00 a.m. they're asking, if you're not an essential worker, to please stay at home, stay off roadways. we did talk to the plows earlier this morning, and they have plowed these streets about three times already, and you can see they're s

caller: town is catskill. our governor is matt cuomo. he has done a pretty good job.en vaccinated wants. -- vaccinated once. i live in an assisted government facility. it is not assisted living. we have our own apartment. we have a lot of people in this country, and this just hit us. we are doing -- i think they are doing a pretty good job, but i hear different things. people cannot get on lists, people cannot get vaccinated. public health came to us two weeks ago. they were wonderful. that is who should handle this more. the public health nurses are absolutely wonderful. we filled out a form and we had it in our big room, and everything was organized. it was wonderful. we get our second shot in another week and a half. they were so professional. that is what they are trained for, to help in this country. i think there is a lot of -- i think we need more people to give the vaccination. our local drugstore -- i live in a small town -- this is a moderna in the next couple of weeks. if we can get it here in this town, i hear of things all over. one relative of my friend
