cedar rapids police are also looking for this man. they say he used a stolen credit card at a store on september 28th. if you know who he is, call police at the phone number on your screen. a jury in des moines has found a man guilty of attempted murder and assault for randomly shooting at people. 33 year old pete polson fired shots at people last november while driving around a des moines suburb. he wounded two people in pleasant hill, and both survived. polson also shot at a third person. he faces up to 25 years in prison with his sentencing coming up in december. a man who was an aide to former texas congressman ron paul is guilty of causing paul's 2012 presidential campaign to file false payment records to former iowa senator kent sorenson. a des moines jury convicted dimitri desari today, and acquitted his co-defendant of making false statements to the f-b-i. prosecutors alleged the two hid 73 thousand dollars in payments to sorenson. sorenson endorsed paul's presidential campaign before the iowa caucuses in 2012. there's a new l

a cedar rads man accused of multiple crimes is heading back to prison. prison.it all started in february, when deputies say james surrett led them through cedar rapids on a high speed chase. chase.it ended with surrett slamming into a truck and school bus, hurting two people. after bonding out of jail, surrett allegedly held a woman against her will.he was arrested again, bonded out again and later led thorities on a second chase. today, a number of the charges were dropped in exchange for a plea deal.a judge sentenced surrett to 15-years in prison. he also ordred surrett to pay thousands in restitution. new details tonight tonighton last summer's prison break at iowa's maximum security facility in fort madisoso and it sounds like it's straight out of a hollywood movie. movie.guards say inmate justin kestner missed a head count. prison officers went to his cell where they found a. elorate disguise under the bed sheets - to look like he was sleeping.apparently kestner crawled out a shower pipe into the attic - then the roof - and out of the prison unnotic

gossman of cedar rapids. many can't believe something like this would happen in this quiet part of town. here's how police say it all happened. two officers were able to track down that fleeing suspect with a k-9. the man was found somewhere within the block. as police closed in to make an arrest, the suspect opened fire, shooting a gun at the officers. they fired back. the man, who police say was in his early 20s, was fatally wounded. he later died from his injuries. the two officers and the k-9 were not hurt. one of the craziest things about this story, the shootout happened just feet from a daycare. one dad, bringing his kid in this morning, said having a shooting so close by is a bit alarming.
