i want to go back to the chaffetz -- to congressman chaffetz's visit there. you were instructed that there was going to be an attorney accompanying mr. chaffetz and this attorney was to be next to you at all times. here's what i'm trying to get at. the secretary has said, no body -- nobody is more committed to getting this right. if the intent is to get it right and get to the truth, then why this converted effort to shield the interaction of congressman chaffetz from you? that's what i'm not figuring out. if we want to get to the truth, shouldn't you and mr. chaffetz be able to have a dialogue and conversation without some baby-sitter from the state department, some lawyer there monitoring, taking notes, calling back, doing all the things that this individual did on that congressional visit? >> i should be able to have a conversation with the congressman if he wants. >> didn't you say in my first round that this was the first and only time this had ever happened, where someone from the state department accompanied a congressional visit and you were instructe

jason chaffetz live from the hill from utah. martha: this all started three years ago back in 2010 when the irs began inappropriately screening conservative groups who had applied for tax exempt status through the irs. 500 groups fell into that net and they were subjected to what is said to be unfair and overly burden tomorrow scrutiny and questions like what books were they reading and what were they praying for. hard to imagine the legitimate reasons for those questions. some of these groups with tea party or patriot in their name waited more than three years to get any answer on their tax exempt application, and while they waited, two election cycles came and went. bill: this scandal having an effect on how people are viewing their government. 68% feel the government is out of control and threatening basic civil liberties. it is 9:10 in the morning. we expect the hearing to start at 9:30. we'll take you there when it starts. martha: all of this raises so many questions as we get started this morning. we want to tell you about

what about the 25,000 pages that congressman jason chaffetz told us with?y exist and who has seen them? >> i'm not sure of the exact number, there there are certainly a lot of documents that we haven't yet seen and a lot of documents that i think the obama administration should turn over. i would include in those the intelligence -- some of the intelligence reports about benghazi in the months leading up to the attacks on september 11th there of last year. i would suggest that we see some of the intelligence that came in immediatelafter those attacks. even if it needs to be heavily redacted. i would suggest that we could see redacted copies of some of the transcripts of survivors, interviews of survivors that might be able to shed some more light on what was happening in benghazi at the time and what happened in the aftermath. there are so many things we additional information about what happened and what was told to the american people afterwards, think think it would be good to see it. >> do the members of congress have access to the list of people who we
