good morning and welcome to news channel 8 today. i'm gayle guyardo. >> and i'm gene ramirez. >>> it happened right after midnight at central avenue and 45th street in st. pete. investigators believe the stolen car was speeding when it crashed into an undercover police truck carrying two officers that were part of the auto theft task force. news channel 8's josh thomas joins us now live from the scene. josh, what are detectives saying about the crash and injuries? >> reporter: well, right now, as you can see be behind me here, crime scene investigators are still on the scene. you can see the vehicle involved in the crash. the officer, one from tampa and one from st. petersburg were out looking for stolen cars as part of the auto theft task force. they were tracking down -- actually traveling down central avenue when they were t-boned at 54th street north. as it turns out, the car that hit them had been stolen but they were not actually looking for that vehicle. there were six people in the vehicle, four females and two males ages 15
