charles watson on this. we're learning a little bit more about the sort of tik tok on all of this, as i said, it started at 5 a.m. local mississippi time. this individual who doesn't own this plane, it's owned by a local doctor, you know, got the plane out, was able to get on the runway and then take off. we don't know how quickly he did so. he stole this plane and presumably worked at the airport and obviously didn't catch too many people's attention. soon after that, he was calling 911 letting them know exactly what he was up to. they were on the phone with him for some time, or communicating with him for some time and on and off we're told, right newspaper now, we don't know and cannot confirm all of that, but we know that he could be running out of fuel in this beechcraft vehicle that it's in. a beechcraft air 90 turbo-prop, depending on speed and whereabouts in condition up to five hours. he's up to that limit and we're told by a number of pilots depending on the conditions and if you're relatively low

to see if we get them shortly. >> charles watson, we'll check with you as it develops. thank you, charles. for more on this, an aviation lawyer and fox rothchild partner. what can you tell us as the story develops at that stands out to you? >> well, i think, as a number of your reporters and guests have commented, it appears that the pilot, whoever was controlling the airplane, had some flying experience. while certainly the ground traffic that we saw is erratic, it seems that he controlled the airplane reasonably well in terms of keeping the wings level. the turns were kind of steep. he certainly maintained control above the ground until he either ran out of fuel or decided to put it down. i've seen some media reports, some social media reports he may have been a student pilot, may have m a student pilot certificate as far back as from 2013. the other thing that's noteworthy is the question of how did he get access to the plane. if he's an employee of the airport, as has been reported, he would have the appropriate security clearances, likely, to be out on the ramp and

charles watson, we are learning a lot more for this guy's past. what do we know? >> yeah, hey, good afternoon, sandra. we are learning he has a serious criminal history, dating back to when he was a minor, in 2020, allegedly shot two and almost injured a third. he was charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder and gang-related assault involving a firearm but those charges were reduced to just felony aggravated assault after kelly took a plea deal. he was sentenced to three years in prison but according to court records, he served just 11 months before he was released back in march. this of course preceded kelly's alleged shooting spree in memphis during which police say he first shot a childhood friend, striking him once in the head after kelly asked to speak with him, the victim privately in a friend's driveway. you can see a bullet hole nearby in a window at the home where this alleged shooting took place. the suspect's rampage then picked up hours later with another six people shot, three of them fatally. the the hours' long ordeal came to an end

charles watson reporting for us in memphis. harles. >> major developments in the last couple of hours or so. what we know right now is memphis police confirming that the deceased individual that they found in a residential neighborhood in south memphis monday evening is that of memphis school teacher and mother of two eliza fletcher. additionally police also confirming new charges for cleotha abston henderson in connection to fletcher's death. he is now charged with first degree murder and first degree murder in -- and evidence tampering charges. we got a first look at abston henderson in court not long ago. he told a judge he was unable to afford an attorney. public defender was appointed to defend him. the state request abston henderson $500,000 bond be revoked. because of the new murder and kidnapping charges were not on the docket today the judge kept the bond in place and asked the prosecutors to submit a formal motion that is expected to be taken up in court at a hearing we believe at 9:00 a.m. wednesday morning. all of th

fox's charles watson is in sarasota tonight. what are you seeing there? >> tucker, i got to tell you, the wind is pretty strong out here throughout most of the day. we've seen sustained winds around 45 miles per hour, and wind gusts around 70 miles per hour. from what we can see it's caused quite a bit of damage just looking around here in the dark now. we're seeing lots of tree limbs on the ground. we've seen large signs to businesses toppled over. in fact, about 100 yards away from us we saw a tree trunk probably large enough to kill someone if it fell just completely snapped in half and tossed into a near nearby pond. on top of that, you have this relentless rain that's continued to fall here throughout the day. the ground is completely saturated. you have to worry about these big trees out here possibly toppling over on to roadways, on to people's homes, possibly with people in them, and possibly bringing powerlines down. now, you talk about the entire sarasota county, about a 100,000 customers at this point, probably more, are without power. somethin

charles watson is live in jackson. how are the new water distribution sites working out there?ell today. what you are seeing behind me, 1 of 7 new water distribution sites that have opened to ease the demand we have seen at some of the sites, and you can see over here things seem to be running smoothly at jackson smithwell stadium. this and six other sites are manned by national guard servicemen, 600 from across the state, and they are giving folks two cases of water, hand sanitizer, and moving the cars along to keep the operation going and what's amazing, we have been here a few days now, and it's amazing to see how many people have been affected by this jackson water crisis. you know, you run into folks who say they can't do the most basic things like brush their teeth, take a shower or flush toilets. we have spoken to folks who say they have had to scramble to find childcare, the jackson public schools are affected by the water crisis and parents still need to go to work. we spoke to a daycare owner also a jackson public school teacher, she says she's had to turn away money
