for more, i'm joined by charlie crist, former governor of florida. thank you for joining us.o your state's governor was at the white house today and is teeing up a potential announcement tomorrow. what is your sense of what he's announcing here and do you think the pace is too fast or too slow or just right? >> i don't know that anybody knows to be sure. but i think you try to be to the best with what you have. i have heard people talk about the situation, trying to build a plane while flying it. what i've heard in the opportunity that the governor had with the president today, he talked about a fairly moderate opening, if you will. sort of a phase one as a beginning. and then moving slowly and prudently. i'm encouraged by that because i read recently in "time" magazine an article about the prefecture of ok e ido which had shut down and had a stay at home order early on and then had the curve start to bend down. so the governor lifted it. you know, quite a little bit ago and then they had a surge. all of a sudden. where the incidents of the infection started to go back up rap

joining us now is congressman charl charl charlie crist of florida. he served as governor from 2007 to 2011. congressman, thanks for being here. florida governor ron desantis called the state's unemployment system a gelapy, as we heard in that package. as one of his predecessors, what is the problem? >> i think the problem is that it's not working. and i don't think we know exactly why. deloitte is the company that was retained to do this. that was during my last year as governor. and for the past eight years, under now senator rick scott, we had the same system and i don't know why, you know, more detection wasn't created and ability to find out what was wrong with it, so it could be remedied, before we enter this pandemic that we're having to face right now. it's tragic, people are out the money that they need. the state would provide $275 a week. congress just last week passed an additional stimulus that would add another $600 per week to each citizen that is unemployed and needs this kind of compensation. but the trick here is, ana, unfortunately,

right now, charlie crist, who was hurt by a bad economy, republicans he said might be in the same position right now. do you worry about that? >> well, i mean, look i'm worried about people. this is not about politics. this is about how do you help every family. most i've went through, look i went through hurricanes, i went through mass shootings, i went through the zika crisis, there's always going to be a crisis, and what's going to happen is people are going to come together and they always do. families do it, communities do it, churches are involved, government can be helpful. we'll get through this and i think the key is going to be if we all understand that we cannot get infected. every person says to themselves i am going to not get infected and then this will stop and that's what's going to happen and thank god we have healthcare workers and people are stocking our groceries and things like that because they're the ones making sure we could all survive while we figure out how to treat these patients. neil: all right, senator scott, hopefully, this doesn't go on forever, so we'll se
