. >> and i'm charlie crowson. let's get right to one of the big stories and it is the weather. strong winds blowing 80 miles an hour. torrential rains and massive waves meaning only one thing. hurricane sandy has made rapid fall. -- landfall. >> it is now pounding cuba. they are feeling the effects of the storm early tomorrow morning is what is expected. will hurricane sandy wreak halving on the area? >> earth cam this morning, a live look near the atlantic coastline and you can see the winds off the shadow of that pool. winds already picking up out there. could this affect us in the days to come and what's expected for florida? right to lynette charles. >> you asked the question can this affect us through time and that answer is yes. not quite sure where sandy is going to go but again we have a huge potential of getting sandy as we go through time here. what's going on with hurricane sandy as you said it is around cuba. you can see that eye well defined eye now. it will move over cuba and enter back into some warm waters and it will be lashing the coast of florida as well and

this is abc2 news to go, i'm megan pringle. >> and i'm charlie crowson. a lot but we begin with a check of the forecast with meteorologist lynette charles. >> good morning everyone. yes, we are dealing with some wet weather out there this morning. it is scattered in nature but maryland's most powerful radar is picking up on some scattered showers. so let's go ahead and look at that's going on in a lot of spots this morning. we go along i-83 and we can see some light to moderate rainfall that's all sliding to the north and east. jarrettsville as well as port deposit. also seeing some light showers around baltimore. wood lawn, towson even this morning and even over in dundalk. this is all sliding to essex and you will be under the gun in a matter of moments. so take that rain gear as you head out and about. temperatures are on the warm side this morning. 65 degrees in barnsville and the dew point is at 64. we're at northeast and that temperature is at 69 with a dew point of 66. with the dew points in the 70s and upper 60s we are feeling very humid out there

"good morning maryland," i'm charlie crowson. megan is off today. but lynette charles she's in house right now with the weather forecast. lynette. it could be changing. >> it could be changing. it is going to change as we go throughout the day charlie. let's take a look at what's going on on maryland's most powerful radar. right now, we are dry. we have all of the sweeps on scanning the skies. not picking upon a whole lot right now. but as we go more into the afternoon, late afternoon evening that's when we'll see wet weather moving in here. the clouds will be on the increase throughout the day. the temperature right now in nottingham at 46 degrees. that dew point at 46. the winds are pretty much on the calm to light side. but they will be picking up as we go throughout the day. 56 degrees right now in arnold with a dew point of 53. the winds out of the south at about 3 mis an hour. that's what's holding the temperatures up a bit this morning. not really dropping off like they did yesterday. 46-degrees in elkton right now with the dew point of 43 and

i'm charlie crowson. >> and i'm megan pringle, thank you for joining us. that storm really is one of the big stories today. >> yeah, lynette's been following it for a number of hours now overnight. you guys really are watching this lynette. >> oh yes we have an eye on it because it could be affecting us into sunday, monday and also tuesday. so this is hurricane sandy now and we can see the eye. it is weakening a bit from the last time i showed you but once it reemerges back into the waters it will gather some strength and we can already see the outer bands already lashing southeastern florida. this will make the track up to the north and again, all the models most of the models taking it just off the coast some of the models taking it inland. we definitely still have to try to get this storm under control and see where it's going to go. but even if it stays off the coast, we will be impacted by this storm in terms of the cold weather and also some very windy conditions and rain as well. so let's talk about what's going on right now. so we can get you out t

. >> and i'm charlie crowson. we begin this thursday with breaking news out of east baltimore. an overnight house fire leaves five people dead including three children. >> it happened at a home near you this goode marshall high school. as well as abc2news.com but right now to the team coverage for you. abc2 news' sherrie johnson on the scene, what can you tell us? >> reporter: well, we are here yes in northeast baltimore and as you can see behind me here, firefighters are still on the scene of this early morning fire. we have learned that five people have died in the fire. two firefighters were also injured. we have four children that died and one adult. the call came out about 2:00 this morning. crews responded here to 5601 denwood avenue and found the row home engulfed in intense flames. right now, i have chief kevin cartwright with the baltimore city fire department joining me live here. you know, chief, just -- a very sad scene this morning. four children, tell me a little bit about what happened this morning. >> yeah, this is something we never look forward to. but just af
