steady rain throughout i-95 and the beltway, basically from philadelphia all the way down to charlottesville have the rain falling. and this is the focus of the freezing rain advisory for that reason. the moisture will be pretty significant until we get into the late evening hours, when it's going to taper off. as you're sitting down to dinner on sunday night, it's still going to be falling, though it will start to get lighter. then the next threat comes. a cold front, you can see it slicing down here, with the blue on the back side of this system, indicating snow. but that moves through during the overnight from sunday into monday. then monday afternoon we'll be clearing again. by noon, already seeing a return of the sunshine. then it's going to get just downright frigid. i use the phrase "freezing rain" a couple times today. it's not the same thing as sleet. sleet is when rain drops freeze before they hit the ground. you'll see them bouncing off the windshield. freezing rain falls all the way to the ground as liquid and then it becomes ice. that's why freezing rain is so dangerous. now, ov
