here's the deal you're looking south along the river that goes out into the chesapeake bay so all day long, the winds have been blowing off the chesapeake bay and up the sevren keeping temperatures schily there like it is now 49 degrees but well away from the water in the bright sunshine on just the right side of the warm front. still 77 in culpepper. 76 in fredricksburg. metro area finally made it to the middle to upper 60's. that was really good. a little disturbance runs along the warm front. really warm air here and the cooler air there and in between along the fronts showers and sprinkles. steve rudin will keep his eye on those. we have a chance tomorrow morning of getting back into some mild temperatures. start the day around 48 degrees with some sun and just ahead of the cold front, we could climb into the 60's briefly. there's a ton of warm air out here. definitely preview of spring. 88 degrees now in omaha. 82 in kansas city. chicago o'hare 73 degrees right now. 79 at nashville. the problem is the upper level winds are not going to bring all this warm air eastward. it's going

we wanted to connect pittsburgh to the chesapeake bay. it was george washington's dream to use the potomac river to transport goods and it was seen as a reasonable thing to do. he had any canal system go by using that you have any canal system built by using -- he had a canal system built while using a system of locks but it did not work very well so we are his dreams and that one next to become a river so we could use the water source have something more reliable. you boat over the falls, he would not last long. -- you would not last long. we rented from georgetown to cumberland and that is where we ran into problems known as the appalachian mountains. we did not take good interference -- to that into consideration. the canal is 184.5 miles long and there are 74 left -- life locks -- lift locks. there is a big difference between yorktown and. georgetown is below sea level and cumberland is on it so there is a difference. these locks but control difference so we can -- let us control the difference so we can go both ways. what will happen

we wanted to connect pittsburgh to the chesapeake bay. the eakpeak of the canal and the 1870's, if you were waiting at a loch, in 30 minutes there were 15 or 20 boats waiting. it was not a very reliable usage. a did not actually have a long time use. it was kind of broken. did not work very well. so we went ahead and took his dream and build a canal next to the potomac river so we could use that water source but have something that is more controlled and reliable compared to the potomac river, because you took a boat over the falls you would not last very long. we'll use this canal and ran it from georgetown all the way up to cumberland. we kind of ran into some problems also known as the appellations. we did not take that into consideration when we were building the canal itself. so we kind of not stuck going to the mountains or trying to go around them. this canal is 184 miles long. throughout that, there are 74 lift locks. we are going to go through one of them today. that is locked 20. what they do, there is a very big elevation diffe
