chester county, montgomery county as well. we're looking at 95 right around girard avenue.headed southbound we're not seeing that much of an increase, about five minute increase for the drive time. we also are dealing with several reports of road obstructions throughout the airy. one in upper providence second avenue and vaughn road and another one in lower merion on riders ferry road and monument road. you can see rain actively falling. that's just in terms of volume. that doesn't mean -- that doesn't include ponding and roadways having on instructions or different problems on them like that. you still want to give yourself extra time from route 30 to the schuylkill give yourself an extra 10. we'll check in with the philadelphia international airport and mass transit coming up in a few minutes. >>> a texas police officer pulled over a woman who was talking on her cell phone. >> he actually ended up saving her life. this is newly released video of that incident. the woman was choking on food and trying to use the phone to call 911. the officer got her out of her car and per

from northampton into the line of storms through chester and montgomery county, prompting a flash flood warning still in effect for these areas, thanks to the heavy rainfall. that leading edge is moving to the northeast at 30 miles an hour. so the heavy rainfall where you are will likely not last all that long but it is lingering now. in upper montgomery county and this could lead to some flash flooding. be on the lookout for flooded roads this morning. and best advice is, if it's coming down in your area wait it out and give it some time after the storms pass. the flooding does occur with the heavy rainfall but it takes some time for it to come downhill and find the roads. localized flooding could continue forward for the next several hours. the potential for more flooding rain is with us today. part of why we have a first alert weather day. not only heavy downpours which could lead to more flash flooding this morning and this afternoon but damaging winds, power outages, downed trees are a threat this morning and later today. the futurecast at 8:00 shows the storms still in the region.

chester county and across the border in lancaster county, near southern berks county as well, chester montgomery delaware and philadelphia with 64 miles per hour wind gusts, flash flooding, quarter sized hail or a mix of that sort of issue. the other area that saw a strong thunderstorm was the lehigh valley. right through the center of lehigh and northampton counties we had funnel clouds, golf ball sized hail as you just saw on that viewer photograph that was tweeted in. 61 miles per hour gusts and some homes damaged particularly where trees came down and ripped off siding or maybe the winds just came through and knocked some posts off of -- some porches. we've seen some pictures of that sort of thing. as we go into noon, clouds and sun, kind of humid out there and then through the afternoon a slight chance of a pop-up shower or thunderstorm popping through. i do expect all of this to be over with by about seven or 8 o'clock tonight and i do also want to point out that the chance of severe weather from the storm prediction center has now pushed to the north and east of us so we are not looking a

it is a line of storms extending from allentown through berks county into montgomery chester and some of the heaviest weather right now into delaware county and quickly moving towards philadelphia and montgomery county. it's clearing new castle county in delaware. look at the heavy rainfall now in western delaware county. heavy rainfall is just getting ready to exit the westchester area and euclid township. these storms are heading to the northeast at 25 miles an hour. it's not going to take much time at all to reach westchester. i've taken the lightning off of this. you can see the heavy rainfall that's a few seconds away from media and chester and quickly on its way to upper darby. it's about to intensify in radnor, too. lots of lightning. this area here this large area that's the warned area for severe thunderstorm gusts of more than 60 miles an hour damaging winds, possibly bringing down trees. definitely want to wait that out, even heavier rainfall is moving into upper montgomery county. it's just clearing pottstown, still seeing downpours, east pikeland as well. this line of hea

the flash flood warning until 9:30 for parts of delaware chester berks montgomery camden salem countiesgton and also philadelphia counties included in this area right now. so, this is a wide area where we have flash flood warnings because that rain is still coming down and storm tracker6 live double scan showing it's exactly where the hardest hit areas are right now. first off you can see wow we've updated now 100 lightning strikes in our area. so, this is not dying down its just reigniting through the region. we have almost a training effect because they're coming out of this direction. so, they're moving up to the northeast so you can kind of see it just keeps redeveloping. now you've got it in newark, south of wilmington but the areas that have been hit all morning continue to get hit in parts of salem gloucester and now camden counties in new jersey. so that's one of the main concerns with this right now that we're seeing. so, you're getting in it glassboro on route 55, on the atlantic city, near medford lakes right now. i just want to go ahead and put up a storm track in this area

philadelphia counties and just in, a flash flood warning has been since issued for northeastern chester, most of montgomery county a and now into western bucks. so we have a lot going on. in the bright green area, that is actually a flood advisory, still lots to track here with this. we will take a look at a wider zoom you can see how thing moved in quickly, we have basically seen i mean like buckets of rain dumping down. i have reports that we have seen up to one and a half inches of rain, within a 20 to 30 minute window. that will absolutely, lead to flash flooding, and if we go ahead and zero in on this we can quickly there we go, we can take a look at rainfall rates with the dark maroon color, youe that, that is insanely heavy rainfall, rainfall rate coming down at two and nearly three-quarters of an inch per hour. granted, you will not get dumped on for an entire hour but that will add up exceptionally quickly and lead to flash flooding. with that said maybe you got woke up by thunderstorms and just tuning into see what is going on. if you are about ready to head out and you tune in with us to check t

showers and storms started to form and intensify north and west of philadelphia, up through montgomery and chester counties. heavier still certainly from coastal ocean county through atlantic city. this is moving out. cape may county, linger clouds. but up through atlantic city and lbi where we are seeing heavy rain and frequent lightening. zooming up to the north and west you can see around norristown we have a heavy shower. west goshen township in towards west chester we are seeing steady rainfall. this could start to have move toward main line, schuylkill, schuylkill expressway at 6:17 at night and city as well within the next 15 minutes to a half an hour. we are not out of the woods just yet and then this rain moves in and line of strong thunderstorms with the cold front will come through tomorrow afternoon and tomorrow evening around dinner time and could bring heavy rain once again and strong wind. look at this bull's eye of green where flooding has been taking place and rain has come through, much cooler in the wake of the storms. it is 74 in atlantic city. eighty-three at the the airport.
