from northampton into the line of storms through chester and montgomery county, prompting a flash flood warning still in effect for these areas, thanks to the heavy rainfall. that leading edge is moving to the northeast at 30 miles an hour. so the heavy rainfall where you are will likely not last all that long but it is lingering now. in upper montgomery county and this could lead to some flash flooding. be on the lookout for flooded roads this morning. and best advice is, if it's coming down in your area wait it out and give it some time after the storms pass. the flooding does occur with the heavy rainfall but it takes some time for it to come downhill and find the roads. localized flooding could continue forward for the next several hours. the potential for more flooding rain is with us today. part of why we have a first alert weather day. not only heavy downpours which could lead to more flash flooding this morning and this afternoon but damaging winds, power outages, downed trees are a threat this morning and later today. the futurecast at 8:00 shows the storms still in the region.

showers and storms started to form and intensify north and west of philadelphia, up through montgomery and chester counties. heavier still certainly from coastal ocean county through atlantic city. this is moving out. cape may county, linger clouds. but up through atlantic city and lbi where we are seeing heavy rain and frequent lightening. zooming up to the north and west you can see around norristown we have a heavy shower. west goshen township in towards west chester we are seeing steady rainfall. this could start to have move toward main line, schuylkill, schuylkill expressway at 6:17 at night and city as well within the next 15 minutes to a half an hour. we are not out of the woods just yet and then this rain moves in and line of strong thunderstorms with the cold front will come through tomorrow afternoon and tomorrow evening around dinner time and could bring heavy rain once again and strong wind. look at this bull's eye of green where flooding has been taking place and rain has come through, much cooler in the wake of the storms. it is 74 in atlantic city. eighty-three at the the airport.
