you can seat chilean flag. strength of the miners. chile without miners isn't chile.ome of the families have been living. you see some of the kids await the end of the day.crayons. balloons. when i was here, you could sit down, talk to people about the hardship and horror. the youngest in the mine, is jimmy sanchez. he only started working in the san jose mine to months ago after quitting school to support his pregnant girlfriend. his father juan building an addition, he said among all the miners, jimmy is most emotionally distraught. he was afraid he was going to die of hunger he said. he has been having nightmares down there and crying himself to sleep. finally, there is 54-year-old luis urzua, shift foreman who became the fearless leader. he managed to get his men to work together during their almost ten weeks underground and managed to keep them sane. >> does it surprise you that he took charge? >> the guy in charge is the boss. >> urzua parcelled out the meager meals. each man was allowed 2 teaspoons of tuna, half a glass of milk and half a biscuit every two days

we've been able to really get an update about what the chilean flag is, as the men have had the chilean flag with them down below with them this whole time. the first thing they asked for. the excitement of the wife and family there of this young man. i think you were saying earlier he's only 23, 24 years old, a father of three. successfully now back to the top. they're going to get him unstrapped and let him embrace right there. you've got to love that. in the loving arms of his family members right now who are so excited to see this young man. as we were discussing before, he is the only miner that is from bolivia. he will return as an international hero to that country. as you were saying, he's only been part of that team just five days prior to august the 5th. when they had the mine collapse. here he is now, this international hero. everyone's going to know his name. returning to bolivia, quite the sensation. his family so excited to see him. i want to give everybody a little bit of information. we've been talking a lot about the capsule named the fenix. it was the third capsule tha

some of the guests are wearing national costumes displaying the chilean flag. a moment of national pride. across the globe, every moment of this rescue is being broadcast live. here i want to show you japan tv broadcasting the images. when the rescue capsule was first lowered into the chambers, this is what japan these viewers saw. and in chile itself, people are on tender hooks. monica is in santiago watching the rescue with her family. she said people in santiago have been talking about this all day long. rushing home to watch. hoping everything will work as planned. i talked to her a short time ago. >> i think my friends and my family are good to be here. like me, sitting on the border of the chair waiting for the moment. and i have friends and my family that are also, i know, sitting in front of the tv. because it is a very important moment. for these are christians or any other religion, it is very important. we are very proud chileans. people, person, very important for us. >> she said her family will be up all night. i heard people in atlanta talking, wa

and as we see that red, white and blue, which are the colors of the chilean flag with the star there as we see it raised up, the engineering that is involved here, the checklists, they were rather proud to say that when they first put this together and then the engineers came down from nasa to advise them, they had already crossed off 95% of the things that the folks from nasa had suggested. so, this is something that we may see again. of course, the hope is that people will not be trapped in mines but we also note danger of mining and this has brought it crystal clear to anybody in the world who doesn't think twice about the people who go down there. in this case, a copper and gold mine or other mines where they are extracting coal or something like that. >> okay. one last time -- >> it weighs about 1,000 pounds. >> so one last time, give us the run through of what to expect in the next couple of hours. they are putting that thing down. the first guy down will be a rescue worker, is that right? >> >> it will be a paramedic it will go into the hole, go empty first and bring it up, th

the 33 chilean flags each with the names of one miner. the family put them up there as a sort of living shrine of a memorial -- not that they had died but basically as a symbol that they would not rest until the men had returned. now family members are up there, they've lit candles. we saw that some of them -- thought some of them would take the flags away. but the ones we spoke to said they plan on leaving the flags there to stay there as a permanent memorial to what happened here at the san jose mine. >> just miraculous. tell me about those five heros. the rescue workers. are they still down there? >> well, three of them are. two of them have already surfaced. they were warmly thanked by the chilean mining minister. they've done a great job of preparing and aiding those men to get above. but officially the mission is over. of course they won't totally be over until that final special forces medic comes to the surface. >> i guess the biggest question now for everybody is they look so good physically even the oldest from the youngest. now

some of the families have been bringing the chilean flags with hopes they've been writing the last 69s. it could be one of the catholic flags. i haven't had a chance to see them up close. they've been bringing presents themselves toss give to their loved ones as they step out of the rescue pod. it will be about ten minutes if it goes as planned, which most of these rescues have. megyn: no pressure on esteban but he was trapped in a gold mine, no excuses. this will be a great moment. i hope this one goes safely as all the others have, incredible moments there. back to adam moments from now we are back to this incredible rescue scene. again from seeing that mine miner who proposed to his girlfriend a few minutes away. plus a violent purse snatching caught on tape raising questions about why this victim risked her life. wait until you hear what was in that purse. anyone would have fought for it. and john stossel, channel link his inner stossel for an epic showdown with a big union boss. >> people say you union thugs are sucking the life out of america. >> you know what i say to that, i s

emotional moment, and now put on a gurney and he will be taken for examination and he has the chilean flagre and gary tuchman is on the scene for us, and gary, seven more trapped miners to come, and in the last hour, we have seen three miners coming up, and in the next hour three more and there are seven more miners that have to be brought to the top and then the five rescuers have to be brought to the top. this is moving quickly, gary. not quickly enough for some of the family members, but after 69 days their are finally, finally on the surface. gary, weigh in on what we are seeing. >> well, wolf, you would be surprised at the patience of the members in camp hope to my right. we are having problems with the aud audio, so let me adjust it. they are patient and know that the loved ones have been gone for 70 days now and don't rush it, and don't mess it up. they are patient and celebrating and have been celebrating for three days at camp hope knowing that this is going to begin the rescue effort, and indeed, now down to the last seven. we expect if it continues at this pace, it could be over

and if there were real bad cases, the chilean flag would have been moved in the picture, really blocking our view. but so far, we have been able to see everything, see the miepers greet their family, greet everybody, their friends and co-workers and really jump on top of the stretcher, having no need for it, but at least going through the protocol. >> we see them on the gurney. he goes through the doors, is that like a make-shift hospital? where is he going through those doors? >> reporter: sure. part of that -- that tunnel there was -- was intended to obscure the video you from the cameras on this hill. but that hasn't been necessary, so the cameras have followed them really into that. that's going into a make-shift hospital where preliminary triage will take place to see how they are managing the situation, whether they need to be rushed to the hospital or not. so far, the first three, we haven't heard any helicopters, no sign they need to be rushed out anywhere. we could see problems later on. some men have medical conditions and some have had complaints about skin problems, as well a

on the mountain on the side of the hill there, they have 32 chilean flags. one bolivian flag.surface the order of those who will be brought out first, then next, and on and on and on and on. they're not releasing the specific names of the order, but they are telling us the first groups are ones they've been monitoring who they think are the calmest. those with the most experience. those who when they're being brought up will be able to handle it. the capsule, by the way, is called the phoenix. it will be rising as a phoenix shall. and interestingly, this has been put together by nasa. nasa helped them do all the steps of these escape capsules. as i was speaking to the minister of health he said nasa said one thing. you must have a plan. you must have a plan with protocols and you can't deviate. there's no opportunity to take a moment and say let's improvise at the moment. they have to have plans of contingency. we're going to walk over to this gentleman and get more information. the minister of health told us one of his concerns about deep vein thrombosis. being held in a posi
