republican congressman chris collins of new york is joining us. thanks for joining us. >> good to be here. >> thank you very much. you were the first member of the u.s. congress to support donald trump. do you see yourself potentially as part of a trump white house team? >> i really don't -- i've been thinking long and hard about this. i had a long conversation with president elect trump today and i told him i'm really not interested in joining the administration. i'm in a job now on the energy and commerce committee in congress, that's where i want to end my career. but i do think there's a role i can play, you know, having assisted president elect trump for nine months, with my colleagues in congress. and i actually floated that today with speaker ryan, as well. so i do think i'm going to have a role to play, but i don't see myself at this late stage of my career, which has been quite varied over four decades, going and taking something in the administration. i want to stay right here in congress and conclude my career as a congressman. >> so te

kellyanne conway, then congressman chris collins calling romney a self-serving egomaniac with a chip shoulder. almost feels like there's a campaign of sorts right now going against romney. what do you say to all of this? >> i think reince priebus actually, he summed it up pretty well that there's a diverse array of opinions about some of the decisions that are going on inside the process of putting together a cabinet. i think, you know, kellyanne conway, she's a very -- she's a very loyal staffer to president-elect trump. she has very strong opinions and i'm sure that she's offering the same opinions that she's offering publicly privately so, you know, i think ultimately this still comes down to a decision that the president-elect, himself, has to make and that those -- i think what's very different is that many of these opinions are being aired publicly, but this is not a conventional -- was not a conventional campaign and it was successful. it's not been a conventional transition and hopefully it will still be successful as a result. >> still so unusual that, yes, those things happ
