chris gordon has been monitoring today's deliberations. >> reporter: there have been problems raising questions whether this jury could reach a verdict. prosecutors called the defendant a violent repeat offender who ditched his tracking device. the defendant took the stand and testified he didn't do it, so the jury is trying to sort it out. all right. the jury is now in court. they have given the judge a asking for more of the trial testimony. a juror was excused today for health reasons. yesterday, the jury sent out a note saying that one of the jurors questioned whether there was a rape in this case. this caused a neighborhood advisory commissioner to come out and just say she's very upset with the way this trial has run and raise questions whether this jury can reach a verdict. again, today one juror was excused and replaced. there's an alternate juror. they will not be deliberating tomorrow because of scheduling problems. they will be back here on monday. that's the latest live at d.c. superior court. back to you. >>> let's look at the race for the white house. hillary clinton and

chris gordon was there for the means going forward. >> reporter: after going all the way to the courtappeals, maryland's highest court, prosecutors today for the first time got baltimore police officer william porter on the stand to testify against a fellow officer on trial for murdering freddie gray. officer caesar goodson drove the police wagon in which freddie gray suffered fatal neck injuries in april of 2015. goodson called for a unit to check on the prisoner and porter responded. porter testified he found gray on the floor. gray asked for help and porter assisted him getting onto the bench. porter asked gray do you want to go to the hospital. gray said yes. porter testified he told officer goodson, gray said the magic wor words. >> absolutely had to have him. >> reporter: porter testified that goodson didn't call for medical help or seat belt gray onto the bench. porter testified he had a good rapport with freddie gray and he said he didn't believe that gray needed immediate medical attention or that he needed to be taken to the hospital. >> one has to wonder whether all the sta
