this was based in what happened in 2000 and three granted different political landscape in california. lieutenant governor chris bustamante, a democrat, was on the replacement list. they jumped on late. there were democrats were split about whether he should have done that, and he and it was confusing the bustamante's message was vote no on the recall. yes on bustamante, and but there's a different type of confusion. now i hear it for readers every day. they're like, wait, who? i don't understand. a lot of people are writing in nuisance name. and on the second question, which won't count because he's not on the ballot, and then there. i'm getting the question all the time. does that invalidate my ballot? it does not invalidate your ballot, but you are essentially throwing away your vote for the second for a replacement candidate. yeah you're you're obviously sitting out, you know the decision on a possible replacement there if you skip the second question. tough decisions for voters to make here in california in the coming weeks. appreciate your insight, as always, joe gary foley from the san francisco chronicl

granting their request. at this point we do not anticipate additional u.s. military flowing into the airport, but as you said, chris, the evacuation mission continues. so that means that u.s. military and marines are still screening people as they come on the airport grounds. we heard from general mackenzie they screened more than 104,000 people throughout the course of the mission that began august 14th. that's a tremendous amount of people that have come through. he made the point one of the reasons this is so dangerous is because bringing these people onto the airport, they have to get up close with them and check them, they have to make sure they don't have weapons or explosives on them, and of course in the case of yesterday, there was one individual, at least one individual that had explosives. we know the attack occurred at the abbey gate. it is a place we have seen large crowds gathering over the last week or so. that has been the real security concern. you mention isis-k claimed responsibility for the attack. that was the specific attack that the u.s. was worried about happening, outside one of these gates

chris. republican governor doug ducey continuing to apply pressure to schools fighting to keep their mask mandates in place. this time financial announcing the creation of $163 million grantfunded by the federal government covid relief funds effectively amounting to $1800 per student, but in order to be eligible to receive those funds, schools have to essentially meet two requirements and they have to remain open and they have to comply with arizona state laws and those schools who want to continue with a mask mandate in defiance of arizona's state law will be deprived of those funds. governor ducey is saying that he believes while health recommendations within schools are welcome. he said mandates put undue pressure and stress on students, but democrats and education leaders throughout the state here are absolutely outraged at this. i was speaking to the superintendent of the phoenix union high school district which represents 22 schools and the school you see behind me in 28,000 students they have been in the fight to keep mask map dates in place. the superintendent telling me that they'll continue to put student safety before money. take a listen. >> a lot can change,
