chris martinez, kpix 5 extract more than 1600 firefighters are now working on the fire. reinforcements keep coming in to limit destruction beyond the 175 buildings that have already burned. reporter jessica florez is in lake county to show us the firefighting effort. jessica? >> reporter: veronica, as the sun begins to set, you can see behind me the firefight continues in the distance. you can see where some of the hotspots are and where helicopter is now headed to drop some water. basically, cal fire has been aggressively attacking this fire from the air using fire retardant, helicopters making constant water drops and right now we aren't seeing huge flames like earlier today. if you take a look at video from earlier, you can see the black, thick smoke and huge flames. from the vantage point where we are now, we don't see those huge flames anymore but it's good news for surrounding communities. hellfire does say they feel like they have the upper hand tonight. take a listen. >> even though we are not seeing the same amount of smoke and fire intensity right around the ci
