chris nguyen is live from the eagle ridge golf course in gilroy tonight with the story. chris?0l >> the ninth fairway at eagle ridge is just behind me. if you take a look you can see a lot of green trees in the distance and beyond the first ridge is where the fire broke out earlier this afternoon and althoughnb residents areñr relieved that the fire did reach their hopes they say it was still too close for comfort. >> at the eagle ridge golf club in gilroy a nerve-racking experience for residents. >> after i literally walked into my kitchen it was just all white and black smoke and you can see the flames. >> just after 12:00, a golf club employee called 911 to report a grass fire quickly moving up the hillside behind the ninth pole. cal fire and gilroy fire as well as the south santa clara district responded and by the afternoon were able to reach 100% containment. the challenging fire fighting conditions weren't lost. >> we have to work together as a team to best put our resources in the correct places for the safety of the residences the people and the homes and our firefight

chris nguyen is joining us live from gilroy. chris? >> reporter: larry and ama the gilroy school district dealing with the deaths of four of its students in this past week, three last night and one over the weekend. if you take a look behind me, you can see the flags have been lowered in honor of the victims and all of them who had the rest of their life ahead of them. as we take a look at video this was the scene last night on leavesley road in gilroy and a 24-year-old man as well as three 18-year-old women who attended three different high schools in gilroy. officials telling us the 1998 ford mustang left the road on a large, sweeping curb and hit a dirt berm and went airborne and overturned before landing on its roof. as you said, larry this happened at 10:30 last night. the sole survivor, 23-year-old anthony imbronone -- imbronone, rather, has been arrested on suspicion of dui and vehicular manslaughter. earlier today we spoke to family and friends of one of the victims, sarah williams who was a senior at christopher high school in

abc 7 news reporter chris nguyen joins us live from san jose with the latest. chris? >> larry and ama, we just got briefed by police. the suspect is 31-year-old mohammad khaliqi of san jose. police tell us they were able to arrest him in san leandro this morning without incident. let's put his mug shot on the screen for viewers at home. he altered his appearance and he now has shorter hair than what was captured on security cameras. the suspect was wanted in connection, and the most recent assault happened on tuesday in the 4,000 block of rio vista in west san jose. you're looking at home surveillance video of what happened. the suspect followed the 13-year-old victim as she walked home from school. he ended up forcing his way inside the home but the teenage girl was able to fight off the attack. san jose police say they received 100 tips from the public and they were able to use that information to track him down. >> this is one of the most heinous crimes that i've seen. this is a sexual predator and that is off the streets now but this was a very alarming crime to m

in santa cruz chris nguyen, abc 7 news. >>> a south bay construction company owner and a project manager are headed to prison for an on the job death that occurred back in 2012. the santa clara county jury convicted 53-year-old richard lu and 36-year-old dan luo today of involuntary manslaughter. the pair face up to four years in prison. one of the construction workers, 38-year-old raul zapata mercado died in january 2012 when a 12-foot dirt wall collapsed on him in milpitas. building inspectors had issued a stop work order on the site three days before zapata died. the family of a vallejo teenager was shot and killed is learning more about one of the suspects accused in his death. janet hall joins us from the hall of justice. >> reporter: the family came to court for the arraignments of the defendants and the teens who were accused of shooting and killing their loved one and they ran into a man who was leaving court with a restraining order in his hand. 19-year-old kroll is one of two suspects who was charged with the murder of kenneth rusk. he was murdered on a trail near bethel trail

i'm chris nguyen. let's start with the forecast. here's lisa argen track live doppler hd. good morning, lisa. >> good morning, chris. the marine layer is compressed this morning so it's pushing down to the surface. some of our bridges are being impacted. but above the marine layer it is looking pretty nice. low fog and clouds will fix out slightly earlier today making for a slightly warmer afternoon. for everyone we are in the low to mid-50s right now. a little little mist and drizzle. san carlos, one of the milder spots at 55. with the fog pushing down to some of the bridges right now and right along the roadway, you are looking at about three to four mime visibility or less at times. by 9:00 much of the fog is moving across the bay and clearing. so that will bring sunshine sooner and with a few 80s inland today we will feel warmer. we will talk about the cool down tomorrow coming up. chris. >> lisa, thanks. >>> breaking news overnight out of half moon bay where a fishing boat has run aground. it happened around midnight. authorities say a 50-foot fishing vessel ran agroun

chris nguyen, abc 7 news. >> a woman who claims former 49er ray mcdonald sexually assaulting her is nowrrent 49er as well. ahmad brooks was part of the sexual assault in mcdonald's home in december. the 22-year-old told police mcdonald assaulted her after she blacked out. surveillance video shows brooks groping her as well. the organization is aware of the media report regarding ahmad brooks. we were disappointed to learn of this matter and we'll continue to monitor the situation. >>> seeking to clear his name, mcdonald has filed a defamation lawsuit against the alleged victim. gloria allred called for the charges to be dropped and california law protects victims and witnesses from lawsuits. we will not allow nfl football players or any other rich and famous person to intimidate a person who allege that they are rain victims. >> the alleged victim has filed a cross-complaint lawsuit against mcdonald. the district attorney has not yet charged if mcdonald will be prosecuted. the nfl deflategate controversy. an investigation found that the new england patriots likely deliberately deflated
