chris: governor, do you have intelligence about rallies like that this week in arkansas? and have you beefed up security to protect your state capitol in little rock>> well, thank you, chris and the answer is yes, we have both intelligence that there's going to be activity around our capitol and capitols across the country, much of it comes from the fbi, but our own intelligence, and we're taking necessary precautions to make sure that we protect our capitol and our citizens. you have to -- you want to be over-prepared versus under-prepared because we never want to see a repeat of what we saw january 6th at our of nation's capitol. chris: what are you specifically being told about the threat level of the rallies in your state? >> it's not to the level that i'm bringing out the national guard. we are using civilian law enforcement. we have response teams there. we'll have beefed up presence at the capitol for tuesday. we actually have a rally for today and there's not -- we don't have any specific intelligence that there's going to be violence associated with those rallies, but we want to be extra pre cautious. every state has to look at their own

it's sort of this rock and a hard place situation for the republican party where it's kind of a lose-lose and they're not sure where to go, what to do. chrisld, let me pick up on that as a matter of practical politics, can republicans write off not only the former president, but the tens of millions of americans who voted for him on november 3rd and would vote for him again? >> i think the real issue here is that the republicans are afraid in the congress and senate, republicans are afraid of the primary contest. donald trump may retain pop of popularity. we learned rob portman is not going to run again. i think we can read a lot into that. pat toomey is not running again. i think the question becomes -- i've watched kevin mccarney in palm beach with the president. it was clear to me, neither of them know where the party is going. they appear likely to want to do it together. are you more worried about primaries or winning general elections and winning back voters. that's the choice they have to make. i hope they make the right one for themselves and for the country. a dynamic two party system is important for good policy making and good p

rock and roll type of guy. how did you uncover this aspect of his personality and why did you want to tell the story? >> i have to give credit to my producer chrisraoh who uncovered the story. although it had been hiding in plain sight in a lot of ways. but he found it and brought it to me and we had been wanting to make a film together for a while. and when he told me about this story that i had not heard before, this aspect of carter's history, i was just like, this is so cool because it's -- it's just a different way to look at some somebody to sort of explore their life through their relationship to music. and i have a background in doing music documentaries, and it just seemed like such an interesting thing and an interesting challenge to me to take this music lens and focus it on someone who's not a musician. and it turned out to be so much bigger and better than i ever could have imagined. >> so, what are some of the ways you saw music influence carter's politics? >> well, from the very early stages of his life, he talked about how, you know, music brought races together in the south in the '60s with soul and gospel and the connections be
