. >> you are also writing about the senate screen, lindsey graham and chris van hollen but there are other pieces of legislation. what are you hearing from mitch mcconnell and chuck schumer on how the senate may proceed on sanctions bills? >> we know they won't proceed on the resolution. mitch mcconnell said he wanted something to be stronger. that seems to be in peril in terms of making it through the senate but there's a major push to have the senate take a step and pass a serious sanctions bill. there are various resolutions or bills out there but it does look like graham's push has momentum. >> it seems in the coming weeks the senate will turn its attention to fiscal 2020 spending with the deadline, the november 21st, what can we expect, what did we hear from the majority leader in terms of that? >> there is no appetite for another government shutdown, even though the government shutdown in february was several months away, feels like the memory is very fresh. expect the senate to start taking off appropriations bills. there are bipartisan bills that have passed out of the commit
