right now let's check with meteorologist christina loren. >> any relief for the firefighters christina? >> it depends. we're seeing less in terms of dry lightning strikes, however, they're really close to where that monsoonal moisture is coming in. i want to start with our red flag warning that has expired for the entire state of california. now we're just working with a couple red flag warnings posted for the pacific northwest. but the situation is improving as the cut-off low kept things so unstable finally starts to fizzle out. this is what we're talking about in terms of the monsoonal moisture, right now concentrated mostly over nevada. what we're expecting in the yosemite area is improvement weatherwise. winds that pick up in the afternoon, you just heard that firefighter talk about erratic conditions. it's really hard to dictate what those winds will do. it doesn't take much, but a 15 to 20-mile-per-hour gust to send traveling embers around the area. that's why it's been so difficult to contain so far. 20% to 40% humidity right now. in the morning is when we see the highest humid

we'll check in with christina momentarily.ning is blamed for a massive fire at an oil refinery in venezuela. investigators say the fire started yesterday during a rainstorm. people who live in the area were forced out of their homes as the thick black smoke rose into the sky. the fire burned for hours, but crews managed to get some help from the heavy rain and they were eventually able to put it out. no reports of injuries so far. the refinery can produce nearly 200,000 barrels of oil in day. >>> right now riveting video, pretty mind blowing. a deadly smud slide in colorado. the four-foot wall of water pummeling the area out there last friday. at least one person died, another one still missing. a total of six homes were completely destroyed. nearly a dozen more severely damaged there. you can see this gushing through the city. the mudslide was triggered by more than an inch of rain. it fell on an area burned by last year's waldo canyon fire. investigators say the soil just could not absorb this rain which then caused this wat

christina loren, let's talk about the conditions. not goating any easier for these guys. >> no. over the next couple days, a big question mark when it comes to the thunderstorms. not yet today. as we head through tomorrow and wednesday, we'll see the monsoonal moisture and thunderstorms pop up in the area. that could be a blessing or a curse. with the thunderstorms, you can get brief heavy downpours that could help the firefighting efforts. you also get really gusty winds to the tune of about 50, 60 miles per hour. that's why we're really concerned about the firefighting efforts. the winds over the weekend have shifted. they were coming out of the southwest, that was a moist ocean air, now seeing the winds out of the south-southeast. for us that means very dry air in the area. you can see from the smoke plume courtesy of nasa, how large it is. you see the area shaded in red. that's the size, the perimeter itself of the rim fire, roughly the size of chicago. that smoke is drifting 250, 300 miles plus away. there's air quality alerts i

and christina mentioned the two -- there was both federal and state legislation in 2010. that was essentially an unfunded mandate where it really required that schools provide drinking water near where children ate. and, so, what we did here in san francisco is that the puc, the school districts, the public health department and foundations came together and partnered to say what can we do about this, how can we actually meet this mandate and really help our youth have access to water during school time. we began with a pilot in 2011 where we put filling stations in five schools. it was tremendously successful. and, so, we're now in the process of expanding that program to 36 schools. and the way that we picked those 36 schools are that these are 36 schools that currently have no drinking fountain either inside the cafeteria or in the hallway near the cafeteria or in some instances wherever the children might be eating because as we know with school facilities, sometimes kids aren't even eating in cafeterias. but we've also been trying to figure out that as we install the
