hey, john and christine, the floodwaters, believe it or not are still rising in portions of north carolina, particularly here in lumberton perhaps the worst affected by hurricane matthew behind by the massive storm. you still see neighborhoods under water. the residents here waking up in nearby shelters this morning. their lives on hold. even some of the city's construction projects, if you look off in the distance, also right now sit abandoned. that's because they have to wait until the water levels begin to recede which we're told could be days, weeks perhaps even months for some particular -- for some portions here. so where's all of this water coming from? we're told that the nearby lumber river was two feet above flood stage before hurricane matthew actually swept through the region. many people here actually thought the worst was over when the storm blew through over the weekend. of course, the water levels began to rise. officials are keeping a close eye on the water. there have been several rescues that happened the last several days. meantime, people here are hoping the worst is over as they're hoping to get their lives back on track it's in coming days. for
