chuck bell, what can you tell us about the wind speed and how it may be affecting what they're trying to do in prince george's county? >> the wind is certainly not helping the firefighters' cause at all. winds are out of the south averaging 15 to 20 miles per hour but winds are gusting now to 20 to 25 miles per hour across much of the region. and any kind of a sustained wind or a gusty wind like that is just going to make the efforts all that much more difficult for the firefighters out there. the smoke plumes are racing northbound. anytime you add wind to a fire that makes the job much more difficult. again, wind gusting now at andrews air force base is at 23 miles per hour reagan national gusting to 22. that's the view from our city camera right there. while i put this on max two, our camera tower shot towards northeast washington, the smoke plume, and you can tell this will be a problem they'll be dealing with quite some time. it's also very warm. our tower camera shot pip eel try and zoom in. on the left side of the screen is the national shrine of the immaculate conception there.
