tonights sharks fans are commingling with the cinco de mayo revelers. if you're downtown, you will see a san jose police officer. >> visibility is everything. they see the police presence, we help facilitate the movement of people. we help manage the crowd along. we show people that we're here to provide a service to the community. it makes things so much more peaceful. >> reporter: yeah, do you have people blaring their radios and driving with big flags. police say they will be somewhat tolerant but any minor traffic violations will be taken seriously. officers will not, will, he had the people celebrate as long as it is within the law. so far we've seen kind of a family atmosphere, if you will, out here in downtown san jose. there is a big festival south of here over at the county fairgrounds. they're expecting some overflow crowd from there to kind of mingle, wander over here to downtown san jose. i'll tell you what, terry and diane. there is something scary i saw here. a couple of canucks fans. what are they thinking? >> they're crazy. we just saw s

late night cinco de mayo celebrations turned violent in downtown san jose. officers in riot gear squared off against rowdy crowds in city streets. marla tallez is live with video of pretty strong police presence out there, marla. >> reporter: many people took the entire weekend to celebrate cinco de mayo. san jose police say friday and saturday went pretty well, relatively quiet for them. that all came to an end late last night when several people ended up in handcuffs after a mob scene in the downtown area. police say, 300-400 people swarmed santa clara street near 21st about 8:30 last night. first, there was a report of a stabbing that led to a police emergency. you can see police officers dressed in their riot gear. in the midst of the chaos, buses were allowed to cycle through the area picking up and dropping off people. officers tell us one bus didn't make it out okay. it took a brutal beating. >> because the crowd was in the middle of the street, that bus got hung up in the crowd. they started throwing bottles at the bus, destroying the bus literally,

i only know that because cinco de mayo was yesterday. 6:18. take you outside and show you what we are working with. doppler radar tells the story. look at the spine of the sierra nevada surrounding lake tahoe. snow showers and our snow levels are very high. as you can imagine, temps in the bay area are in the 60s. very unusual to see that. that's exactly what we are working with this morning. we have light isolated activity in the north bay. showers have been pretty light. we have had enough moisture come through to make the highways a little bit on the slick side. you do want to travel cautiously as we head throughout the day. we haven't had any significant rainfall recently. that tends to slicken up the rhodes a little bit. that losens up all the oil that's been accumulating. as we stop the clock on your futurecast, 9:00 a.m., a little bit more activity on the south bay. mostly going to see the action on the east and south end of the bay area. we might see stray showers up in the north bay as we head throughout the day. basically, pesky show

let's check in with meteorologist mark tamayo. >> for cinco de mayo. things will be cooler.ve the fog regrouping coast side and right around the bay. temperatures start to trend down. the satellite perspective, we can show you. this can you see that fog bank out here. that coupled with more of an onshore breeze start to cool off the coast also towards san francisco and oakland. you will notice some clouds up to the north, not the low clouds but some higher clouds and even a few thunderstorms, in fact, as you come in tighter, you see the lightning detectors to the north, you start to the south and east of chico. and a little bit of activity right now. basically, this is dying off. a few sprinkles, a few light showers approaching parts of lake county and the eastern portions of sonoma county as well but mainly just some clouds for that region. as far as current temperatures, they are in the 50s in san francisco. san jose, currently the upper 70s and still some 80s to report. still ettywarm out towards fairfield, antioch and livermore last check reporting 80 degrees. wind speed
