city. i have had the privilege of working side-by-side with ed of those years in different roles. when you go through the process of making changes and when you win an election, you should make changes. there is always someone who is top of the list. it is amazing because he is always at the top of the list for multiple roles. when you think about the fact that we have an opening here, wouldn't that be perfect? we could not really figure out the last round when i won reelection what the appropriate next step would be and the next roll was what he was assigned to and that is the role of actually managing those departments. people forget how powerful howell -- how powerful the city administrator is. when you were mayor, it is critical to have a friend as the city administrator. i think that he should exercise his full power. i am reminding him of the charter. and he has been a friend over the years. he is someone that i respect. it is an amazing thing to reach out across the political divide.

chemicals on city property.you are examples of creativity come up with by city staff as ways to greatly reduce pesticides. everything from the framers used in golden gate park to the compost on golf courses and airports. the list goes on and on. all of those are the results of city staff wishing, in their way, to make a statement that they do not believe those are necessary in a good deal of city property. in the last 14 years we have managed to reduce pesticide use. we do not use pesticides on city playgrounds. every step person in the city thinks about them as a last resort. the department of the environment is not the one doing this work. it is our city partners, agencies, and notably here today we have record park areas here to look at these amendments in support of them today. so, what these amendments will do is strengthen the ordinance and bring it up to date. we really want to thank the mayor and the supervisor who are not here today for coming to us and saying -- great job, but how can we make it better

this is really a great city. the world series just made me realize how truly the whole city loves this city, and to have this come or not, -- to have it not, after the world series is not even something i want to think is possible. i encourage you guys to do what you have to do to bring this to san francisco because it will improve my business. it will improve other businesses around san francisco bay, and as other people mentioned, it is a difficult economy out there, even for something as simple as business.
