part of the conversation today is around the citywide management of tour buses. maybe it might make sense to hear from mr. robbins. >> eventually we may want to lock at certain citywide regulations and neighborhood/commercial versus residential, versus look at the different zoning types, see what's there and move accordingly. so i think that might be one way of approaching. i and then eventually we'll want to have a conversation, i think, about the shuttles. but i think that is a separate conversation. supervisor mar: so, mr. robbins. >> thank you, supervisors. jerry robbins with the sfmta sustainable streets division. about a year ago our department drafted a tour bus parking management plan to look at tour bus issues throughout san francisco. some of the issues that are discussed in our draft report include improving enforcement of tour bus passenger loading zones, establishing more tour bus loading zones where necessary, establishing paid on-street parking spaces for tour buses, so they can park someplace when they're waiting for their tours to come back. faci

some of the big citywide issues that impact the district include transportation. we had more muni service and some other districts. it is not always reliable. some of the major bus lines in the district are not reliable. we have major projects like the renovation of delores park. it is an opportunity to define what the park is and what changes we want to make to it. that is going to be and port project, the same thing with glen canyon that is going to undergo a lot of work. one of the most challenging parts of the new district supervisor is that we elect the supervisors by district. it is very important to pay attention to the district, be engaged in the projects in the district. we also represent the whole city. any district supervisor that focuses on the district without addressing the citywide issues is not doing his or her job. every day, i make sure i am working on the major citywide issues and the district issues. i try to be disciplined about that. >> how will you approach the tough choices? >> i think we have to start by looking at the most critical city s

we, too, feel that there is a more important dialogue to have at a citywide level. we can address noise in this neighborhood and tour routes in this neighborhood and parking in this neighborhood. but it's our suggestion, as the tour operators association, in conjunction with san francisco travel, to host what i would call a citywide summit, perhaps hosted by san francisco travel, and we would like to invite the stakeholders, that is to say the m.t.a., the san francisco police department, the department of public health, the neighborhood associations, citizens, the tour operators themselves, as well as san francisco travel, the mayor's office of economic development, employment development department, the treasurer. because this is a multi-billion-dollar question that really need to be put on the table for the first time in the history of san francisco, and it would be a great honor to participate in that summit. in fact, not only would we like to participate in it, but we would like to precipitate it. we would like to actually host it or be a large part of it coming

to comply with laws regarding care hospitals, cpmc plans to modernize its facilities through a citywide plan of care. as part of its plan, cpmc will construct five new buildings. at st. luke's campus, the plan is to construct a new five- story hospital. the siting of the new hospital allows the old hospital to remain in construction. it will connect streets in recognition of portions of san jose avenue. after the hospital is demolished, cpmc will construct the 5 new--- a new-storey hospi. at the west side of van ness, cpmc proposes to construction of a new hospital. across the street on the east side of van ness, we propose the construction of a new 230-room office building. was the hospital construction is complete -- once the hospital construction is complete, cpmc will transfer to the new cathedral hospital. at the bayview campus, a portion of the service -- surface parking lot, who proposed the construction of a new medical office building, also referred to as the neuroscience institute. although this project was originally proposed in 2007, it was overturned by the board of supervi

this is because of the citywide projects. about 200 units are under review. as far as the immediate pipeline, these are expected to be completed by 2014. about 1700 are expected to be affordable. that represents 27% of the units that will be completed by 2014. this is how all those units would break down. approximately 60% of the production targets would been an -- would have been achieved by 2014. in the 2006 report, san francisco achieved 86% of that, even if the units are similar. it is just that the expectation for 2014 is much higher than we were expected to build before. 6300 units or 32% of the targets would have been achieved for border ability before affordability. approximately the same number of units were built but we were able to meet 40% of the target. this shows it simplified. the project sponsors filed applications with building inspection. they are reviewed for compliance. the planning department approves or grants entitlements that allows sponsors to file for building permits. they then issue the permits that allow for construction. when con

i have been blessed to lead a number of citywide national initiatives to support use development and workforce activities. -- youth development and workforce activities. those are some handouts for a number of initiatives i have been able to serve. many of them exist today. one of those initiatives is what is called jobs for youth. it was a large city-wide private sector-public sector initiative that helped place over 1500 young people in private-sector employment opportunities and courted over 60 community-based organizations. city college, private industry council, and the top 30 corporations in the city all contributed to it. it was a private sector funded initiatives. today, it is known as match bridge. it has won national acclaim. it led to the next initiative, the youth opportunity grant. this initiative was led by the department of labour. got to infuse -- thought to infuse resources into amenities. there is a flyer there for some of bart outreach materials. it served over 5000 people in all of those communities that lived in disenfranchised communities. we were successful in
