wesh 2' s claire metz joins us there live. claire, what have you learned? claire: a horrible story. a 29-year-old man tried to drive his pickup truck through this construction zone behind me around old kings road and forest grove drive about 10:30 last night. he got it stuck in soft dirt. according to the highway patrol, he called friends to help him. jessica darby and her fiance, but they had no luck in moving the pickup and noticed a construction worker and asked the driver of a dump truck to help pull them out. he could not get the pickup out of the dirt and was backing up to leave when he ran over the pickup owner and his friend who were apparently standing the hine the dump truck. -- behind the dump truck and the the driver did not realize he hit anyone because he drove away and was stopped less than a mile up the road. he complained of chest pains when the trooper made contact and was ultimately hospitalized to be checked out. it sounds like a terribly tragic accident, the truck driver trying to help the young people then hit them as they stood at the scene. according to fhp,
