that is according to the sheriff of clark county. what he was able to describe, there were multiple reports of gunfire coming from the direction of the mandalay bay hotel in the direction of a music festival taking place on the eastern part of the las vegas strip. officers responded to where they believed the shooter was located on the 32nd floor of the hotel. they engaged the suspect. as we understand it, the suspect was killed. they describe the man as a local resident of las vegas. not giving any more information as to his identity, his motivation, other than to say that he was a local resident of las vegas. interestingly enough, they're talking about who they are looking for. they've identified an asian woman, according to the sheriff. marilou danley, 4'11". they've identified two vehicles that they believe were registered to the gunman and are no in pursuit of. they are -- and are now in pursuit of. they are asking for help, anyone who may have seen the vehicles, to contact police. they are working with officials from the red cr

we have 108 firefighters on scene and 155 unit hours just for clark county fire department alone and spent last night handling that sc scene. timing up with partners from the law enforcement to reach as many people as fast as we could and try to do as much as we could for the community. i also want toty a moment to recognize community ambulance. they were there as standby medical at that scene last night. they had five or six mrapss there and they immediately threw critically wounded patients in manses and transported from that scene and also american medical response amr and medic west ambulance. they brought all hands on deck and brought in all employees and rallied everything they could from pickup trucks to vans to all available ambulances to bring extra medical supplies down to staging area for us. and to make those resources available to our community during that time of need. i want to give a big shout-out to those private ambulance companies that did a wonderful thing for us as responders from the fire department side i'll take a few questions. >> did you say how many ambulan

i am sheriff lombardo from clark county. i do do not have very much moro update you with from our previous briefings, one thing in particular that has changed in the negative is our body count. that's the wrong way to say it to pay to the number of people who have died associated with this event has increased. right now we are using the number of 58. i was informed that it may be 59 of an individual that may have expired at the hospital. i do not want to give you that information, please do not press me on the number until we get further into the investigation. the number of injured, we are using the number of 515. and as you can towel as the hours go by, that number continues to increase. we have not received any additional intelligence associated with the suspect. we have completed the search warrant. i am not aware of any derogatory information that we can utilize at this point. but we have recovered items. and it will take a little while to evaluate that information. we have learned information of additional property in

the clark county sheriff seems to think that he was not. they have not put out any evidence to back up that claim but they said he would have been superman to pull this off alone. we know the days running up to the attack that stephen paddock was gambling a lot. seven, eighth hours a day and there were witnesses now saying that stephen paddock had a female companion with him for a lot of that time. police are now in the process of trying to track down that female companion. that was not his girlfriend, by the way. his girlfriend, marilou danley was interviewed for 5 1/2 hours yesterday by the fbi. they didn't reveal anything of what came out of those interviews. her lawyer came out and said later that she knew nothing about the attack. that she called stephen paddock a kind and gentle man and she did acknowledge that he sent her $100,000 to the philippines. she said it was to buy a house and she thought at the time that he was breaking up with her. there does seem to be a pattern as you mentioned, neil, of him presurveiling what might be po

he is the clark county commission chairman. the county encompasses the city of las vegas.us. share with us what impact has this horrific incident had on the community? well, obviously it is a dark day for las vegas. i mean, this is one individual, a lone wolf, as we call them, that was in the mandalay bay, hellbent on perpetrating an enormous amount of hate and violence and destruction of that community, and he did that. he reigned hundreds of bullets, rounds of ammunition, down on innocent folks. and the community, he reigned cape town, and the community has responded with an enormous amount of love, fighting back. it shows the true nature of our community. we ta ke true nature of our community. we take care of each other, we fight together. when i spoke to the share of this morning, and we were down here, we were running out of blood really quickly. we had, you know, 59 casualties and 500 and some people being treated. we put out a call for blood, and we have been inundated with people donating blood. there is an eight hour waiting time, if you are giving to the blood se

we had 155 unit hours just for the clark county fire department alone in that scene, teaming up with our partners from law enforcement to reach as many people as we could and do as much as we could. i want to take a moment to recognize community ambulance, standby medical, five or six influences there who immediately through critically wounded patients into their ambulances and transported them from that scene and also american medical response and medic west ambulance. they had all hands-on desk. they rallied everything they could from pickup trucks to vans to all available ambulances to supplies to us and make resources available to our communities in need, so i want to give a shout out to those ambulance companies. i will take a few questions. i could not quantify that, but i 42 years ands for have never seen as many ambulances as i did last night. dozens and dozens and dozens.
