ktvu claudine wong is in marin city this morning where she's been talking about police and family memberstim. claudine. >> that is right. in the last 30 minutes a coroner just arrived here on scene. we'll show you've what is happening on the 300 block of drake. if you take a look down the stairway. you can see a canopy and tarp that is still up. that is where the victim is still at this hour. the body of 17-year-old williams still there. he was shot just after midnight. i want to show you a picture. his family said he'd only been visiting for the last week. he was here visiting from weed, california. his sister told me she heard around six gunshots and when she realized her brother had been hit she ran to his side. >> i held my brother in my arms. i heard him take his last breath. he died right before my eyes. they shot my brother in his head. >> deputies on scene attempted cpr and first aid. however a short time later medical personnel pronounced the subject deceased. >> reporter: police tell us this morning the victim had been shot two or three times. when they talk to the family descri

ktvu's claudine wong is there in san francisco with the latest on where a driver crashed into a caltran parking lot so what happened. >> reporter: the search is on the for the driver. father-in-law started as a traffic -- apparently it started as a traffic stop or attempted traffic stop and you can see the mess left behind. that power pole hanging there and you can see a pg&e crew just arriving. they are telling us these repairs could take a while and power is out. look at this, though, if we pan over, you can see when this car came crashing r went through a fence and ended up hitting this vehicle that's in the employee parking lot. the car that was involved in this has been towed away at this point but we want to show you video from earlier this morning when it was still here, and you can see the damage to it. chp says it started at 1:15 in the morning. the driver did the not stop and kept going. got off the freeway and ended up at 5th and townsend where he or she crashed the car and fled. they're serging for the driver at this point but they've taken away the vehicle and certainly sea

ktvu's claudine wong tell us what led up to the early- morning crash and all of the work needed to clean up the mess. >> reporter: it started at a traffic stop but ended like, a mess on a san francisco street just before 2:00 this morning. the highway patrol says officers tried to pull over the man driving this 2003 bmw registered out of oakland but after pulling off the freeway, that driver refused to stop and ended up crashing into this power pole fence and caltrain truck. he ran from the scene. pg&e crews were left to clean up the mess he left behind. residents and businesses found themself in darkness. >> i saw the accident and thought this won't be up any time soon. i went back to the office and shut down the servers and now i'm gonna stand here at wait until it's fixed. >> reporter: all about 100s abouts were up within an -- within an hour. but this power pole was just dangingling from the -- dangling from the wires. for most people, the power was back on by 7:00 in morning. but for this building, the repairs were to be a little more complicated. so pg&e brought out this generator

claudine wong is there now to tell us what was stolen. claudine?facts stolen from two separate burglaries here at the museum of california and the museum wants them back. that press conference is set to start at 9:30 this morning. we're hoping to get some more information about what happened in each theft. here's what we do know. this happened on monday when the museum was closed. this recent heist happened on monday. a museum spokesperson said surveillance video showed a single thief inside. the thief got away with what's being described as a valuable historic artifact from the museum's collection. it's a gold rush era box. the other break-in happened back in november on another monday. but this time at night after the museum was closed all day. surveillance video showed a man entered the second floor and then broke cases before stealing items and taking off. people we talked to said the thief stole history from all of us. >> if they are and we need so they will know what happened in the past. hopefully, you guys will catch him. i hope so. i hope

the grief stricken family has been opening up to our own claudine wong who is out there this morning. claudine. >> reporter: yes. certainly have a very difficult time out here. the family lives in these apartment complexes. let me show you what is happening night right now. the coroner within the last hour has taken away the body of 17-year-old lavon williams. you can see they are out there still and they will be out there for awhile. we talked to the family about him. i want to show you the picture of the 17-year-old. the family says that you know he's had a little bit of a rough go of it but has been out of juvenile hall within the last nine months and has come here to spend time with his family. he had been here for just about a week and just celebrated his birthday now days ago. they do have a theory about why he was shot. >> i saw him five minutes before it happened. he came to check up on me to see if i was okay. because there was stuff going on by my house. this guy was acting crazy. and then i guess -- i don't know what he was doing. i don't know what he was doing. >> reporter

claudine wong has talked to the victims so what are they telling you claudine wong. >> reporter: wellup of college kids live in this apartment. there are five of them. they think the suspects came here looking for drugs. they told me that they do leave their front door unlocked a lot of the time. that's because they have this gate downstairs sat the bottom. but any also said this lock tends -- but they also said this lock tends to stick. they believe that's how the suspects got in. now, this all happened just before 3:00 this morning. the victims say they were all asleep in that upstairs apartment when the five men broke in. they went from room to room, waking people up. and then they brought them all to the living room. >> i've never had a gun in my face. that was pretty intense. >> one of them grabbed a knife from our kitchen and then i saw two guns. one -- >> reporter: in the face? >> yes. >> reporter: were they covering their faces? >> no they all had baggy clothes on and hoods on. but you could see their faces. >> reporter: victims say they ransacked the place. they think they we

claudine wong is off today. ale savagde has more on volunteers today.orning. in this case, volunteers are working with habitat of humanity to complete to complex. this is actual one of the largest projects in the world, if you can believe that. you can see these volunteers pitching in. these volunteers signed in about a half an hour. they will be doing a lot of the finishing touches like painting and doors and landscaping. this will provide affordable housing for many in the bay area. habitat for humanity started this project in 2010. >> i am just like excited to see it done and i am so happy that these people are going to get the places they are going to get and i am thankful for all of the people work on this site. >> reporter: so, at this point, they have 1200 volunteers -- 100 volunteers on the site, and that's really all of the volunteers they need today. the workers here say they don't need anyone else to come down here to this location, but they need help for the rest of the week and the coming months to have the families move in by april. if you
