i will say that president clinton came in and spoke to some of us who were wavering. and in classic clinton logic, he said, y'all know the current system is inadequate. you all know that this bill is imperfect. but get it as good as you can get it, because you're going to come back every session for the next 25 years to fix it, because you just can't get it right the first time. unfortunately today, because of the partisanship, when there is a problem, people don't find it possible to sit down and cross party lines and fix it. the one thing i feel good about -- it was my final act when i signed out of this -- i demanded they pull out the public option, which in my opinion was an opener for a government-controlled health care system, health insurance health care system in america, which i think would have reduced the quality of health care and literally bankrupted our government. we've got work to do. i'd probably give it about a c-plus or a c so far. i would have given it a d-minus at the beginning. but scott is right. some of the most controversial -- >> say that again. >> i better
