this is video from the coast guard and the cutter monroe. this is in the eastern pacific ocean. cutter monroe's crew can operate in the most demanding open ocean environments where there is significant narcotics trafficking. this video was taken on november 18th. as they came across this vessel here that they suspected of smuggling drugs in international waters. this stop was one of nine stops they made. and on tuesday this crew went to san diego and offloaded more than 29,000 pounds of cocaine, with an estimated value of more than $335 million. >> what we do in the eastern pacific. we do the counter drug mission, so a lot of cocaine and things like that are smuggled into central america, coming to our schools, coming to our playgrounds, eventually. but this is that cocaine. this is the stuff that ends up, in some cases, being laced with things like fentanyl that get in and actually kills americans. you just come off your deployment of these for this round. >> how does it feel relieving. very relieving. >> what was the hardest part about being out there? >> only having one port

a search by the coast guard was called off last night. and also breaking for you this midday in the south bay, a small plane landing on highway 85 snarling morning commute. this could have ended way differently. nbc bay area's bob redell tells us in cupertino that the process is underway to get that plane out of the area. but, bob, do we know how long it's going to tak? chp just told a couple of more hours. here's the issue right there. you've got the pilot of this airplane that landed here on southbound highway 85, along with a couple of people who showed up on the scene here to help him take apart the take the wings off so they can make the plane smaller and make it so it's tow off the surface of the roads here. but again, it's just taking time for reasons that we're not clear why. so again, chp says it could be another couple of hours. so we're looking into early afternoon at the earliest. it was around 715 this morning. during the morning commute, that this pilot made an emergency landing here on southbound 85 just south of mcclellan

the coast guard rescued 16 people during five separate rescues. all were in the bay area and monterey on friday. three people were rescued from a grounded boat in san pablo bay on saturday. monterey coast guard rescued a diver and then on sunday, five people were rescued when their boat became disabled. that's west of keyhole beach. also on sunday, three people were rescued from a disabled boat near point reyes. the san francisco department of public health gave an update today on the city's efforts to make treatment more accessible to people struggling with addictio. doctor grant colfax said 32 people died of an accidental overdose in the city last month. that's about a 50% drop from the year before, doctor colfax is crediting the expansion of services in the city, including an effort to get people on the street, a prescription for a proven treatment for opioid addiction. >> they were reaching people at six, admission at night, getting a doctor on the phone and getting them the buprenorphine prescriptions that they need to survive. it's incredibl
