supervisor cohen asked which department heads were invited to yesterday's training. i wasn't invited but i invited myself and was allowed to attend. i do have a background in training on implicit bias because of the result of me attending previous training i was introduced to this concept at one of the panels by a national expert on implicit bias in police departments and by dr. lori fidel and worked for the research forum and now a professor at university of south florida and does training for many police departments including some training for the san francisco police department because using the occ's limited training budget i brought her to san francisco two years ago -- three years ago and had her conduct an eight hour training that included the investigators on my staff, the attorneys on my staff, members from other civilian over sight agencies throughout the bay area as well as members of the internal affairs division. it was an eight hour training and her model of training is to not just include the members of the police department that she iss s if focus --

i just want to concur with supervisor avalos and cohen. i'm still not convinced. i'm not saying i'm against it 100%. i actually could see how it's useful and how armed services is a deterrent. i just don't see feel like i have all the needs* to vote the contract moving forward today. in general for our taxpayer dollars to make sure we're spending it the best we can and to make sure everyone is safe doing that. i'm confident moving forward we'll have this conversation. but in weeks time as sf mta did as best they could response to all these questions. i just don't think industry standards means it's necessary or that it makes us safer. but it i'm not saying it doesn't make us safer either. i just wish we had more options in terms of non-lethal options. and we explored daytime versus nighttime. i get the nighttime obviously. that off the bat i understood immediately. i just wish we had time to explore less guns on the street and other non-lethal options. we weren't able to do that in this time. i appreciate they get more training than was initially presented to us l

along with my cosponsors supervisor christensen, supervisor cohen and supervisor tang and supervisor campos and the department of the status of women i am introducing a resolution declaring next tuesday april 14 equal payday in san francisco. april 14 represents how far in 2015 women must work in order to earn what men earn in 2014. equal pay is a symbol of how far we still have to go to achieve pay equity for women and minorities. according to the bureau of labor statistics full time employed women on average earn roughly 78 cents for every dollar men earn. in san francisco that figure is only a slightly better and that's 87 cents to the dollar. and for women of color the gap is even greater. according to the american association of university women african-american women were paid 64% of what white men were paid in 2013 and hispanic women made only 54% of what white men made. whether they have a college education, work in a white collar or blue collar job, have children or don't, women sadly are paid less than men in 2015. studies show even when personal choices and rns specials ar
