friday the greeting sound of the beginning of the end for san jose's columbus park. homeless encampment there cleaning up and they're getting rid of some of the cars. that are illegal or they don't run the city of san jose, removing more than 100 residents living on 10 acres here because you have to move constantly. this latest move comes after city officials cleared campers from a 40 acre neighboring site that was on federal land. saying last year people living in the landing approach for the airport created a safety hazard. it's taken more than 12 months to make this level of progress once that became complete, many camp residents have moved into the nearby columbus park, which is still located under the airport . flight path kind of doing debate switch on us a. this reconstituted smaller encampment creates fire and safety hazards cruiser first removing the final remaining structures. starting next week, inoperable vehicles will be towed the city is offering to buy such vehicles for $500. the city is committed to supporting the residents by taking a human centered
