this is an effort to provide community safety, community security. when we have gathered people in ohio it's the christian community, the sikh and muslim community, the jewish community of course. as someone who represents a broad coalition of these communities, how can we get more people to apply and be able to take advantage of it. >> thank you for your question. it is an important issue and certainly the leadership conference does represent nonprofit organizations that are committed to protecting civil and human rights. the engagement of these communities in addressing the problems that we have with domestic terrorism are critically important. as i mentioned in my testimony, we have over 50 statutes on our federal books that can be used to prosecute individuals who are engaged in these activities. i alluded to the fact that those who are charged today with some of the violence directly related to the january 6 insurrection are being prosecuted based on these provisions. i think certainly educating nonprofit groups about the circumstances involved

this community came together.r what they wanted to see both merchants and people who live here. they harassed me as a supervisor and as mayor to make sure that we got the resources when the community process was complete to get the job done and now, thanks to ruiz construction and 130 construction workers, we're at the end of this project. what does it mean? something that you may not be able to see and something that makes me really excited as a mayor, because i'm a big infrastructure person. the sewer system has been replaced. so that means your pole et cetera will keep flushing and we will see the massive flood situations and for those of you who have experienced those things, this is a welcome addition. for those of you who visit this neighborhood frequently, you know as soon as you get here your cell phone service drops. there's improvements to ensure it doesn't happen. those are exciting things. the pedestrian lights to light the sidewalks they're absolutely beautiful. and i see irene is excited about those,

our next item is community and public health committee updates. >> thank you very much, our communityresented with an excellent presentation from the environmental health growth which was the regulatory branch of dph which was 150 employees and a 100 million-dollar budget. their covid work where many of their employees at covid command that what their function was within covid was to enforce health orders such as sro inspections et cetera that were part of the health order. the two parts that they focused on was the prevention and education on implementation of the health orders. the second part was enforcement. where we needed to look at compliance and they had 8200 compliance inspections. and 27 percent of those, they worked with the departments to assist with their work during the the pandemic. they presented to us was the children's environmental health promotion program. it has been in the department for 30 years. it was most interesting that the focus -- many focuses but the primary focus is lead abatement in the city. it's focused on indoor paint. what is in 2020, 21, the asses

violence, community violence abuse, separation, and loss, so when i see a need for healing in the community and myself, i think about how those experiences impact mental health and how they impact educational outcomes for our children. in my arch, i found people with these high levels of adverse childhood experiences are at higher risk for behavioral problems. they act out in anger or they use substances for numbing, and those things are more likely to have educational consequences. children having to repeat a grade or -- or dropping out of school, so i see a real need for education, how trauma and violence affect children, helping educators and help children, especially as this pandemic rages on. a few months ago, an estimation was 40% of children will have lost a caregiver to covid. i'm sure that's greater now.
