i'm extremely proud to be heading up this very complicated city. [laughter] one that does not let me sleep very much, but certainly it -- i have said this in many cases, just literally these eight weeks i have fallen in love with this city even deeper because it is such a wonderful place to be. every community i visit, every corridor that we walk together, it fascinates me house on many other people who live and work here -- but even those who don't -- just love this city and they do what they can to make sure that it is running well. it is very natural that as i am thrust with the responsibility of being mayor, that i look for talent, and i think a lot of the talent is with the women of san francisco. city. this is a very complicated topic. we do not want to make it seem like it is an easy decision for an easy turn key thing we're looking at. throughout the process, we have tried to balance privatism with innovation, thinking about the next big idea in voting systems, and also want to keep incremental progress in front of us. we can always be looking for ways to improve our system. we studied by topic areas. i should mention i have some hard copies here if you do not have one in front of you or anyone else who is interested here today. the election records and post- election audit procedures. auditing. balloting systems and services. security, right choice voting, and acquisition strategies. basically the models for acquiring. our report contains about 50 individual recommendations. i do not think today's meeting is the place to go through all of them individually, but i want you to be aware that they span across those five topic areas. some of them are granular. some of them are pretty major. but we kept in mind we want

complicated question. i would like to get your thoughts on homelessness and what the city is doing about homelessness, what direction you think we should be headed in, a big issue in san francisco. >> homelessness is interesting. when you look at it as a sociological perspective, we have some of the people in the homeless community enjoying being on the street. others want help. i think when we also -- we need to do a better job of taking care of those mentally ill. when you are on the street and you listen to the homeless folks or you watch them interacting, you see they are a little disturbed. i think the city overall has done a good job in terms of housing and taking them off the street, providing services. mayor newsom started a private -- program connecting members of the homeless community to services, dental, vision, therapy, housing, mental health. these are things that you and i probably take for granted. we have access and resources we can leverage. this community doesn't. in the southeast part of the city, we don't have many homeless facilities. there is one that i know of, providence baptist ch
