with more. what's the update? >> reporter: chris, we just got off the phone with police, and they said it appears to be a gang-related shooting. the investigation focused on 807 saratoga avenue. the man came up and fired several times with a 21-year- old man shot in the chest and killed. an 18-year-old and 20-year-old were shot as well. one mother asked we not identify her, but she said her son is very badly shaken up after watching his friend killed in front of him. >> reporter: do you know why anyone would come up and do this? >> that's what i hope the police in can find out. i hope that's what they can find out considering they have the camera there and i don't know what happened. i live around the corner, and someone came and told me my son was one of the victims. >> reporter: her son is expected to make a full recovery, and police have not yet released the man of the man who was killed here last night, and they are still searching for the shooter, but they say there's a number surveillance cameras and nypd cameras in the neighborhood and outside of the building. they are hoping it will lend some clues as the investigation continues. janelle burrell, cbs 2 news. >> janelle, shows the store clerk a razor and demands they give him money. he made off with just over $1,000 in total. >>> a school bus driver says brakes failed leading it a crash yesterday morning. 11 children and two adults were hurt. the bus is scene going through the red light, hitting an suv and smashing into a liquor store on springfield avenue. they were treated for scrapes, bruises, and broken bones. investigators are looking into mechanical failure as the reason for the crash. >>> 12 people have died from legionnaires', and yesterday council members passed a bill requiring the inspection and defectives have been here for the last 10 hours, trying to piece it together, and you can see them in action behind me, and they are telling us this appears to be gang-related and the investigation is focusing outside of this building. three friends were hanging out around the stoop, the man came up, firing multiple shots, and the nypd's shot detection system alerted police, and when they got to the scene, the shoot her taken off, but they found a 21-year-old man shot in the chest, and he would later die at the hospital, but an 18- year-old man and 20-year-old man shot in the arm survived. i spoke to the mother of the 20- year-old victim, asking we not identify her, but her son is devastated after watching his friend killed in front of him. >> he's alive, but the other young man didn't make it, and that saddens me. he's upset. he lost a friend. >> reporter: police have not released the name of the man who was killed her last night, but they are asking anyone with information to give them a call. they have one outside of this building, and they are hoping it will offer clues into who is responsible for this shooting, and we should note there were two other victim shootings last night. two men injured in those shooting, but the shooter in this case in brownsville, still on the run this morning, and police still on the scene piecing it all together, and that's the latest live
