conner powell joins us live from kabul, afghanistan, with the layest on the situation there.g to afghan officials, vehicle full of explosives rammed into a mini bus on the way to the airport that was full of foreign workers, including eight south african workers killed. in total, 12 were killed. we think that number may be increasing over the next few hours because of the size of the bomb. many of those workers worked for the air charter solutions company, which provides air support and aircraft to u.s. and other diplomatic missions here in afghanistan. it is a strange bombing because the taliban are saying it was a woman who launched this attack. that is a very rare thing. i can only think of one or two other cases in afghanistan's history in recent years where a woman has been the suicide bomber. because of this sort of environment here in afghanistan, the u.s. military has said that they are going to limit the amount of joint operations between u.s. and afghan troops going forward. the insider attack has been a growing problem in afghanistan. because of the overall situati

conner powell has more. >> reporter: the insider attacks are occurring at an alarming rate in afghanistan. yesterday two british troops were shot and killed and held by members of the afghan local police force. in one province four were shot and killed by afghan police. according to u.s. commanders, the soldiers were on the way to help a police checkpoint that was reportedly taking fire. when they got there, four of them were killed. many of the police officers at that checkpoint have now gone into hiding possibly with the taliban. these insider attacks are a real growing problem because it really is undermining the trust between the international community and the afghan government here. at the heart of the strategy here in afghanistan is building up the afghan security forces when soe when you have the insider attacks, so far 51 troops have been killed, it hurts the overall mission here. u.s. commanders say investigating all possible connections to the taliban with these insider attacks. according to the top commander, only about 10-20% of the inspirer attacks or connected to the taliba
