conrad murray's las vegas home and office. at the very same time, we're learning more disturbing details about dr. conrad murray's past. let's go out to peter bowes, pbs bbc correspondent. you and i covered the trial together in santa maria. we spent a lot of days hanging out at the courthouse. what can you tell us about dr. conrad murray's problems? >> according to court documents he does have problems. there are judgments against him to the tune of $435,000. he's in danger again, according to documents that have been published of perhaps losing his home to foreclosure. we know he was earning a significant amount of money from michael jackson. there's been debate as to whether he was actually paid over the last couple months of michael jackson's life. here is a man who seems to have had some financial issues. whether at the end of the day the financial issues have anything to do with the real issue at the heart of the matter, how michael jackson died, whether anyone is criminally liable for that, i don't know. it may be a com

you interviewed conrad murray. situation including your conversation with dr. murray, a houston physician, who was the last one with michael jackson who authorities had been speaking to regularly and is the one who is believed to have administered the propofol we're talking about? >> nancy is absolutely right. the timeline in the affidavit yesterday, if it is correct, then conrad murray is in a lot of trouble. one of the interesting things is they have six hours, the l.a. police, of conversations and interrogations with conrad murray and the lawyers are adamant not a thing is going to change in their defense. the l.a. police know what their defense is and they said to me yesterday, i spoke to them. they said the time shortstop line is incorrect and out of whack. he didn't walk out of the room. that is just made up. the original conversations will show that. and so one of the interesting things here, we have an affidavit which makes a damming case against him but according to the attorneys and i haven't heard the in

no one seems to suggest that conrad murray intentionally killed michael jackson. >> dr. urray told investigators he had been trying to wean jackson off propofol and he lowered the dosage and used two other sedatives two days before jackson died. but on the morning of the singer's death dr. murray told police he caved in to jackson's demands and administered at least some propofol, diluted propofol. dr. murray gave a timeline of what he said happened in the hours before jackson was found dead. according to police documents, he gave jackson four different drugs. around 1:30 in the morning he gave jackson ten milligrams of valium. about a half hour later, 2:00, he injected two milligrams of the anti-anxiety drug ativan and around 2:00 a.m. versed and 5:00 in the morning more ativan and at 7:30 a.m. more versed. he monitored jackson's vital signs the entire time and jackson made repeated requests and requests for propofol and finally around 10:40 he relented and gave jackson 25 milligrams of propofol that morning. then ten minutes after the injection or the administration of

conrad murray. ted rowlands is joining us now in los angeles. where were police? what are they looking for? >> reporter: well, according to a source familiar with the investigation, this is the fifth -- well, not according to the sources but this is the fifth search warrant issued in this case, the fifth one directed at conrad murray. according to the source, this is from las vegas. they came up with this one to a pharmacy not far away from where doctor conrad murray's clinic is in vegas. that assumption you had, this is where he could have gotten the poe poe thol. you do know. the coroner's office, they are done with their reporting and their investigation, the cause of death and the toxicology. the lapd said, instead of releasing it now, please hold off until we are done with our investigation so we can move forward united and clearly what we are seeing today happening right now in las vegas is that ongoing investigation from the lapd, which, according to this rs s source is an extension of that one. they are ibuilding a possible case against dr. conrad murray.

conrad murray. r saying that the affidavit twists what he said and it could be ruled a homicide. the current defense attorney is going to help us understand the case. you had a chance to look at the affidavit. what's interesting is it does set out a timeline of what went on that night. some of it according to the affidavit in conrad murray's lawyers is what he told them. others, they say, is police theory. how is that working? >> that's a very difficult thing to determine, police theory. obviously if murray said he gave valium or ativan or a drug at a certain time, we could time it in. but i don't know how the police could determine when the drug is administered ahead of time. when the autopsy was there, we don't know when it was put there. i'm skeptical of the timeline. >> what do they say when it's the homicide investigation and the possibility of manslaughter here. explain how you go about proving that and how you defend it. >> two terms, one is homicide. people say it's a murder case, it's not re

conrad murray. the fifth, the fifth search warrant served in connection with the death of michael jackson towards his former doctor, conrad murray. >> we don't know toxicology results or anything, right? >> the coroner has done an excellent job of keeping that private. basically with this statement they released yesterday, clearly a situation where you get the feeling that they would love for this to come out so that they can share their findings. they have an exhaustive investigation, but, they've been asked to continue this seal on it until the investigation is concluded. what we don't know is how far along the lapd and the lada who would inevitably be involved in filing charges in this case are. to what point they'll be allowed the coroner to release this information at this point, the coroner is just saying, we're done, but we can't tell you what we found until the lapd gives us the go ahead and, clearly, lapd is out serving another warrant today. >> is that pretty close to dr. murray's practice

conrad murray, had told detectives in los angeles that he had been treating michael jackson for insomnia for six weeks. the treatment had involved the use of this drug. he is also reported to have told detectives in the days leading up to michael jackson's death, he started to worry that he was developing an addiction and was weaning him off of it using different drugs. however, the report does go want to show that the day that michael jackson died, he was given different drugs, none of which seems to have worked. on the morning he died, he had lethal levels of this drug. if that stands up, these are questions about the role played by dr. murray. >> quite a development. thank you for that. good to have you with us on at "bbc world news." coming up -- keeping it in the family. how politics in japan passed through the generations. first though, humid trafficking is a problem largely hidden but affecting much of the world, including the uk. few are ever convicted. we have more on a woman brought to britain and forced to work as a prostitute. >> the uk seems a country full of opportunity. ma

attorney gave an interview -- >> i didn't say conrad murray. i said giving dope. >> can rod murray's attorney gave an interview with "the los angeles times" which he said a new line of argument that dr. murray did not know that michael jackson -- did not know what, if any drugs, michael jackson was taking before signing on. once he got involved in michael jackson's care, he realized hi had a number of unusual issues. >> and am i supposed to be impressed by that? i can look at michael jackson and all of his friends, all of his family, apparently knew something was wrong. tried to stage an intervention to help him. he resisted like any dope addict would do. so everybody knew. >> the jackson family now denies that ever happened. >> right. but here's one last point on him, anderson. i had the same problem when i would, for instance, have a dope murder. juries would be thrilled a dope dealer had been murdered. it would be difficult to get a conviction on that killing, all right in if you look at this case, whether jackson did or did not commit child
