whereby the contra costa county district attorney is summoned, basically automatically because it's a police-involved incident, as well as criminalists from the contra costa county sheriff's crime lab, and they have police detectives and crime scene investigators throughout the evening. as we said earlier, the san francisco police department is also involved. really do not have any information as to the outcome or what happened in the confrontation between the two of them. there is a very active investigation. people are still been interviewed, so we really don't have much information as to why these things happened just yet, but as of now, the police are investigating thises is a possible criminal investigation. as far as administrative things about the san francisco police department and their employee, i would have to refer those questions to the san francisco police department. >> how is the officer doing? >> he seems to be fine. >> was the suspect armed? >> not with a firearm. another type of weapon we won't describe just yet. >> what did the officer say? >> i will not be

they called in the contra costa county sheriff's investigators to look at what's going on here. they just opened up this area, there used to be crime tape here and they weren't allowing traffic through this area at the 24-hour fitness in this parking lot. but you can see this across the street here with the red car, you can still see officers here on scene. most of the investigators took off about a half an hour ago. let's look at some of the video from last night. the police captain tells us they first received a call about a man shot at the gym nearby but then found a man with gunshot wounds across the street here on moser lane and kearney. the captain confirms an off-duty san francisco police officer shot the man. the police did not give details on what led up to the shooting. they also did not say whether the officer just got off of work or lives in this area. and police say that the man's gunshot wounds were not life-threatening. they have not yet released the names of the officer involved or the man who was shot. reporting live in el cerrito, i'm sharon katsuda, "today in

it is part of an uptick in violence in west contra costa county. henry lee joins us with the latest on what happened. henry? >> julie, the triple shooting in rodeo left bullet casings all over the neighborhood. it is the most serious incident in the region in recent weeks. >> 3 people were hurt when shots rang out at about 1:00 wednesday morning in rodeo. it happened of the corner of mariposa and california. contra costa county sheriff's deputies found two women ages 41 and 54 suffering from gunshot wounds. one of the women was taken to the hospital by ambulance and the other by helicopter. a third victim, a 23-year-old man went to the hospital on his own. all are expected to survive. the gunfire left bullet holes in cars and homes. the street was littered with evidence markers. there is no word on any suspects or emotive. the shooting in rodeo is worrisome to leaders in the num of guns seized. two weeks ago, a suspect crashed his car after allegedly pulling a gun from his waistband. the suspect, reginald love was not hurt and was arrested. police
