ktvu's cristina rendon is at the scene now. what have you been table learn? >> reporter: within the past hour two different tow trucks arrived on the scene. it may be a while till had trailer is lifted off the car. it happened on a residential street in front of the victim's home. as you said, police responded to the accident around 1:00 p.m. this afternoon after receiving multiple 911 calls from residents. sky fox, you can see a tractor- trailer filled with gravel, tipped over and crushed a car with a person inside. neighbors say the victim was a woman and there are reports that the woman was asked to move her car by construction crews. they were in the area working to improve the sidewalks and immediately after the accident a witness said he and others tried to save the woman. >> when i first came up on it, two guys were trying to dig her out. i said is there somebody in the car, they said yeah. i helped them dig. >> reporter: mese say they will do -- police say they will do an investigation to figure out what happened. they have oredi-- to rediagram the cr

cristina rendon heard from the mother of two of those students and martin's wife about what the sentenceeans for her kids. >> reporter: elementary teacher joseph martin learned his fate. four years in prison for molesting students. >> at the same time he's got two little girls, and set for release when they're in high school. he would be a friend not a dad to them and that's heartbreaking. >> reporter: before the ruling the judge received more than 20 letters of support more -- support for martin. but also recognizes the damage he did to those victims. >> happy that he won't be able to victimize children anymore. he'll be a registered sex offender for the rest of his life. >> reporter: the court struck down a 25 years to life in prison calling the outcome cruel and unusual. >> punishment to life does not institute cruel and unusual punishment. harsh, definitely. what he did was harsh. >> reporter: the judge told the boys they did the right thing. and told martin that she was happy he will not be able to teach again. >> i will always stand by my husband's innocence. i believe he was wrong

i'm cristina rendon. tori campbell off is. >>> the fire triggered a huge explosion this morning. sadly, the driver was killed. alex savidge is live with what went wrong before the crash. >> reporter: well, good afternoon. police suspect this truck was having mechanical problems of some kind, likely with the brakes. it came barreling down railroad avenue this morning, hitting several other cars before plowing right into this mexican restaurant there. you can see the damage that was done. that big rig, entirely inside of that restaurant. it's a dirt and gravel hauler. this is the mexican restaurant which was destroyed in the crash. thankfully, the restaurant was closed at the time. it's closed on mondays every week. the driver of the truck was killed. amazingly, no one else was hurt. this happened around 8:30. this crash triggered explosions and a huge fire. the restaurant destroyed. a neighboring business also damaged as well. the out-of-control rig crashed into a number of other cars before hitting the unra. those other drivers describe a real surreal scene. >> you could feel the

it happened at arch rock, cristina rendon joins us with what happened and you have a firsthand account with a witness. >> reporter: we spoke with a woman who was at arch rock moments before the collapse. and she told us it was a surreal experience and tonight she's trying to help the victim. this massive slide arch rock happened unexpectedly saturday afternoon at point rays national seashore. this imagine shows just how big the collapse was in compareson to the people at the top of the photo. a witness named melissa says she was there moments before the ground gave way. she says we heard a loud boom sound like a wave was slamming into the rocks it almost sounded like thunder. we turned around and the cliff was falling behind us. the woman says she took this picture moments before the cliff collapsed. two people fell with the rocks. there was no way for us to get down there to them. we needed a helicopter. the sonoma county sheriff's office helicopter did arrive taking one person to the hospital. the other victim died. a spokesman for point rays says this fisher or crack in the land fir
