thunderstorms from westminster stretching back around frederick to leesburg and points south down toward culpeper and heavy rain is also a threat. we have a flash flood watch and a wind advisory with winds over 50 miles per hour. everything is pushing generally to the northeast at a pretty good clip. the line is very slowly moving off to the south and east. so again manassas, you're under a severe thunderstorm warning as you are in dale city and back toward haymarket back into rappahannock county as well. these are heavy thunderstorms for this time of year. so we're looking at leesburg over the river toward germantown up 270 slow going right now and again the reds, rainfall rates of an inch or so per hour. look at the flood alerts, we also have flood warnings in effect for loudoun county, frederick county, parts of montgomery county and also up into frederick and toward westminster. that means flooding is occurring. do not cross the street with a car or by foot. the watch covers prince george's county, fairfax county and the district north. it does not include southern maryland, doesn't mean you

. >>> in culpeper, virginia. a jury found a former police officer guilty of voluntary manslaughter for the shooting death of an unarmed woman. she was facing a murder charge. fox 5s john henrehan is leave outside of the courthouse now with the late-breaking details. john. >> reporter: this officer was facing more serious consequences and he was charged with first-degree murder or second-degree murder or voluntary manslaughter. the jury chose to come back with voluntary manslaughter. danielle harmon wright was a police officer here for five years. the jury found him guilty of unlawfully shooting into an occupied vehicle and into an occupied vehicle causing a death. they found him not guilty of a single firearms have launch and took place in the parking lot of a catholic school where a female motorist unarmed was essentially suspicious and shy pulled away. the officer fired a total of seven times. five bullets struck the 54-year- old patricia cook as she was pull away from the officer. the prosecutor told reporters

there's another batch near manassas, down to warrenton and culpeper.ow we have a lot of new flash flood warnings. i think that's probably the greater concern. these waters are going to continue to rise after the storms and these heavy downpours move out of the area. let me show you on sentinel radar where these warnings are. they go from the roanoke area all the way up to baltimore and in closer on up the number of warnings you see north of 66, that includes most of the metro area and goes until about 4:30 in the morning. we've been able to take that tornado watch down that was canceled. it will remain in effect down to our south because some of these heavier downpours may still be able to drop some big winds and maybe a little rotation. this is also an area to keep an eye on, culpeper to gainesville, a lot of heavy rain coming up through that region. this is all part of a massive system that's left a huge footprint across the country. gary mcgrady is standing by with the action we saw especially down to our southerlyier. >> absolutely. these storms --
