kelly gilbert: it is, it is set in cupertino. i grew up in cupertino.nd when i was looking for books to read about the asian-american experience when i was younger, i felt like i was finding a lot of stories where it was one immigrant family sort of maybe in the midwest or a community where they were the only ones. and growing up here, it was such a different experience, and so i was really interested in writing about what it was like to grow up in cupertino, in a predominantly asian-american community. robert: mm-hmm, and in fact, that's interesting as a book topic, but also as a talk show topic. what was it like for you in terms of seeing that? because again, it isn't like being like, you know, like the only one. you're like in a--it's a much different kind of identity kind of situation. kelly: it really is. i think i didn't fully realize until i left what a bubble it is in a lot of ways. and i think there's so much that makes the experience of growing up in the silicon valley very unique. it's really high pressure, which i feel is something that affe

on a 69-year-old man in cupertino. deputies got a call tuesday about a man in the hospital with injuries... which appeared to have been caused by a fight. when deputies interviewed the man, he said he saw a group of juveniles horsing around.... and told them to stop by the mcdonalds on stelling road. the man said... one of the boys approached his car and spit at his window. that's when it esclated into a fight. police have video of the fight and are holding it for now .. they used it to now .. they used it to identify the boys with the help of homestead high school officials .. they have now been arrested and booked into the santa clara county juvenile hall.
