our rick leventhal live at the cuyahoga county courthouse tonight with more. rick, the suspect in all of this looked like a very different man in court today.>> shepard, castro was te exact opposite of the behavior that he has been accused of over the past 10 years or more. he had his head down the entire time he was in court which was a few minutes or so. his chin was buried in the collar of his jail jumpsuit. looked like a meek, beaten man. he was the man dolling out the beatings 10 years or more on a regular basis brutalizing those three women repeatedly according to police after kidnapping them by offering them each a ride in his car. castro, of course, is the one in captivity with a guard posted outside of his cell 24 hours a day just in case he tries to kill himself. shep? >> shepard: what other details of note did you get from that police report, rick? >> well, the women, according to the police report, told investigators that was astro initially kept them in chains in the basement, but then eventually moved them all into rooms upstairs on the second fl

you know, this is going the a grand jury in cuyahoga county after this. prosecutors have said that during that proceeding, the grand jury, which is going to take place over several weeks and months, additional charges could be filed. the county prosecutor said just a couple of hours ago that he is going to look into the possibility of charges that could conceivably bring the death penalty. that leads to all sorts of questions about, you know, what we're talking about here. according to this police report that we've obtained and according the a source familiar with this investigation, michelle knight has said she was pregnant five times and that each time, she was essentially forced to either miscarry or otherwise abort the baby. she did say to the police in that report that she was starved for a period of two weeks at least once, that she was punched repeatedly until she miscarried. now, is that what the prosecutor here in cuyahoga county is talking about when he's talking about the death penalty? that's unclear and he did not make that clear but looks li

interesting developments from that tuesday conference you alluded to at 4:00, it stounds like the cuyahoga county prosecutor is considering the death penalty. he mentioned that. he also talked about needing some time to continue to talk to the three women who were held capti captive. he indicated that may take some time because obviously they need some time to readjust and get reaically mated with society. by got word a short time ago, word michelle knight is still in the hospital. she is still in good condition. however, her brother tells our affiliate here in cleveland that they are not allowing visitors at this point. but, again, she's still listed in good condition. no word on when she might be released from the hospital. there was, of course, the bond hearing this morning. that's where the judge said that ariel castro, the 52-year-old alleged mastermind, if you will, set his bond at some $8 million. that means he's going to have to come up with $800,000. that's not going to happen. so it's likely he will remain in jail until the start of the trial, if there is a trial. he was transfer

this is a document from cuyahoga county. this contains several accounts of abuse. listed as the natural parent of his child, not as his spouse but natural parent of his child among the allegations of abuse against ariel castro that he broke petitioner's nose twice. that he broke her ribs. that he gave her lacerations, knocked out a tooth, gave her a blood clot on the brain and in parenthesis says inoperable tumor, dislocated shoulders once on each side, threatened to kill her and her daughters three to four times just this year. and you flip the page here and another allegation is that -- i'll read it to you, the petitioner has full custody with no visitation for the respondent and the responsibility is ariel castro. nevertheless, the respondent frequently abducts daughters and keeps them from the mother. these are allegations of abuse and abduction against ariel castro. we do have to say that these charges were dismissed later in that year. a court official familiar with the case tells us however that that does not necessarily mean a finding of guilty or not guilt
