you see nbc 10's cydney long live. what have you learned?>> reporter: keith, i can tell you police just a few minutes ago wrapped up the crime tape, but residents of the apartments are returning home tonight a little bit shocked and saddened, if you will, they are finding police detectives and crime tape draped across the front lobby and the front steps of this apartment complex. we're told by police that this shooting happened about 3:20 this afternoon, right inside the vestibule here, the victim suffered three gunshot wounds and was transported to albert einstein medical center. the suspect, i'm told, went running down shelton avenue, but the evidence left behind is being gathered. detectives out here now tell me it's to include a gun that's already been placed into evidence and a hat, which police may be able to use for dna. the apartment management is reportedly briefing residents right now who are returning home but would not answer my questions over the phone. a detective also told me too early to know the motive or if the suspect and

deanna durante and cydney long. we begin with sidney, gathering information on victims as well as investigation. >> reporter: that's right, loved ones were notified of the horrible double murder. that's when hope turned to despair. it happened ach the suspect came through the doors of vineland police last night letting detectives know where to look for the bodies. we know the mother and daughter were lying in a swamp, dead all weekend long, and that suspect is now facing two counts of homicide. within the last hour we learned the bodies of the 34-year-old and baby were left in a swampy area near a boat ramp, accessible only by dirt roads in fair field township. nearly 40 minutes from her home where she lived that a source confirmed two were killed late friday. police say santiago and ramirez had some disagreement about parenting. the murders took place after she did laundry. santiago came clean to police tuesday telling them where to find bodies. >> he was not the father of genesis. he was the father of a 5-year-old
