most of the d.c. metro area will remain dry the remainder of this evening. the temperatures, unreal. the rest of the weekend looking more cloudy than sunny. with colder than average temperatures continuing through monday. the middle of the week, july comes back with heat and humidity. the details coming up in the belfort furniture weather center. crawlsges coming to pub in arlington. the county board adopted changes to its special events policy. it requires permits for pub crawls. this is after criticism over noisy and loud crowds from the events. there was also an arrest after a man got naked and lead the police on a chase during a pub crawl. robert lyles is following the story and will have more reaction on abc 7 news at 11:00. the arlington county board approved a 2.7 billion dollar plan to fund a project and infrastructure that includes more than $52 million in new funding for columbia pike's streetcar project. we are one week away from the opening of the silver line. commuters got an early look at one of the transportation at wheelercated rest in east.

we have had strong storms move through the d.c. metro region. the storms are off to the east, down to the south and back toward the west including a severe thunderstorm warning in effect. tornado warnings north of baltimore. it shows what the storms can bring. look at this line of storms off toward the east right now. very heavy storms around the annapolis region and toward the west. this line, coming through the annapolis region to pasadena. right now, very heavy rain associated with that, a ton of lightning and more to the south. waldorf getting hit by this right now making its way into charles county. la play da, waldorf, take cover, the storms are moving to the east very, very rapidly. to the west, more storminess in loudoun county and frederick county, maryland. heads up for these as they continue to the east. once again, a severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 8:00 tonight. we are not done just yet. we have the first line here, then another line that is trying to form back to the west. we'll continue to watch that one, too. could be

still in yellow alert mode because of these strong thunderstorms that continue to push through the d.c. metro area. most of the day was dry, especially in the beltway, but now the overnight hours, that's when things have really started to get active. if you watched our newscast yesterday, you heard me mention that the main event would be during the overnight hours. here we are, 11:00, and the main event is happening, up into frederick county and washington county. this is the red and orange indicating the heaviest rainfall, at a rate of one to two inches per hour in some of these little storm cells. this ising moving to the east at 45 miles per hour. expected to hit mount airy within the next 0 to 15 minutes, freedom, maryland within the next half hour. we also have some heavy rainfall down toward winchester, along route 50 and route 7, and heading boo the leesburg area, but here's a wrap-up of what we have for our severe alerts. we do not have any warnings in effect at the moment. that means the thunderstorms out there do not have winds of 58 miles per hour or stronger. they also do not have

the d.c. metro area tonight, though, we are going to be dry.ow, 87 in washington. 86 in college park. 83 in camp springs. temperatures, again, fall to around 70 degrees inside of the beltway. in the more rural areas. low temperatures will be in the 60s tonight. your high tomorrow in manassas, 91. gaithersburg, 88. annapolis, 87. la platta and washington. some patchy fog possible tomorrow morning, and that will quickly burn off, and then we're looking at mostly sunny skies. if you are heading to the beach, conditions at the beach looking nice. low 80s on saturday. sunday warmer. a high temperature of 87. it will be breezy at the beach on sunday, and a little bit breezy here on sunday as well. especially during the afternoon. a high temperature on sunday of 95 degrees. clouds will increase throughout the day, and maybe an isolated late day shower or thunderstorm. you need to get some grocery shopping done this weekend. i would recommend doing it later in the day on sunday because of that shower and thunderstorm chance. you need to get the grass c

no rain and we're not looking for rain at least for the next couple days in the d.c. metro.o the west cooler, 77 in winchester and dulles at 79. where you see the cooler air in nashville in the middle 60's and that's because they're dealing with rain at this hour. high pressure overhead will slowly move toward the east and winds will change direction and that will warm up us later this weekend. by next week we're talking temperatures in the upper 80's to around 90 degrees and a chance of more thunderstorms. most of the moisture to the south and west will remain away from the d.c. area thanks to a large dome of high pressure that will suppress everything to the south. we will keep cloudy skies in the forecast later on tonight and into the day tomorrow. but the rain, a few showers may pop up west of d.c. around the mountains and we're going to look for pretty much the same situation during the day on sunday. this is our futurecast. one model to help us forecast the weather in terms of cloud cover and rainfall. this wants to bring a few more showers a little bit closer to d.c.

nothing around the d.c. metro area right now. towards the west this is what we are checking out here around the winchester area. we are looking around i-81. in towards jefferson county, west virginia. heads up these are all moving towards the east. they will eventually come over the next couple of hours as the storm continues to move on. it is a bit of a frontal boundary trying to move through. a few showers associated with that. on the bigger scale notice the moisture starting to make its way up from the south from atlanta and the carolinas look at the moisture moving up here. that moisture will move our way overnight. we will be in the thick of it. tomorrow morning 8:00 a.m. just the clouds. maybe a shower or two. tomorrow afternoon we see a few showers here and there. it won't be a washout by any means but may be a good idea to carry the umbrella around. the backyard weather tomorrow hopefully on the dry side. tomorrow night heavy rain late tomorrow night. if you are going out a good idea to keep the umbrella handy. saturday m

the biggest risk for severe weather is east of the blue ridge that does include the d.c. metroea and down into parts of southern maryland and much of northern virginia down to richmond. the view outside from the tower looking straight up wisconsin avenue right there to bethesda, skies are mostly cloudy here in washington. prince george's county looking back over the district, mostly cloudy skies. there's the woodrow wilson bridge there. and out to the west, this is looking live at dullest international airport. you can see the blue ridge in the distance but that will fade with rain drops moving in within the next hour or. so they will gradually spread east. and it is much, much warmer east of the mountains. as a result, that's going to be the fuel for thunderstorms today. so the forecast is hot and humid. severe storms likely between 3:00 and 9:00. highs today upper 80s to lower 90s. that's the worst of it for the week. tomorrow starting out with clouds in the morning but sunshine turning breezy and cooler. highs tomorrow only in the low 80s. perfect day for getting out to enjo
