the district attorney's office did not comment today, but yesterday, da brooke jenkins said she is still deciding whether to request a judge move the case to adult court. my clients certainly should be treated as a juvenile. he is a juvenile. it's very rare for transfer to occur. doctor lisa hill a criminal justice professor at cal state east bay, tells us a transfer from juvenile to adult court depends on the case, including whether the minor has any criminal history. you have a person that committed an egregious offense, and we think because they committed this adult like offense, that they should be tried as an adult. but behavior does not imply that a person is mature enough to be transferred to the adult system. the maximum age for juvenile court is 25 years old. doctor hill told us the judge and probation department would have to consider several factors. the big question is whether or not this person by the expiration of the juvenile court, can, you know, be rehabilitated. that's the big question that the court has. yes. it's a serious offense, but how can we you know, this is a j

we just heard from san francisco da brooke jenkins. within the past hour. y area's sergio quintana joins us live now. sergio what's the latest? well, the da says that those charges against that 17 year old have already been filed. and because he is a juvenile, there are very big differences in the way this case will be handled. now, the charges were filed in juvenile court this afternoon. among the charges, the 17 year old is facing is attempted murder, assault with a semiautomatic weapon. and second degree robbery. now, she also said that her office will be reviewing the charges and will likely be filing an additional petition asking a judge to move this case from the juvenile court system to the adult court system. she says it all depends on how his defense team decides to handle this case. if they say that he wants a speedy trial, that means that he has to be. he has to have a trial within 30 days. that means that she will likely have to file that petition very early. she says her office will do everything possible to make sure the 17 year old accused in
