da lin spoke to the owner of colonial donuts about why the most recent robbery added insult to injury. >> reporter: the donut shop owner tells me she's beyond frustrated, robbed twice in less than one week and three times since june. she was asking me how do you do business in oakland anymore? friday 4:20 in the morning as a worker was mopping the floor at colonial donuts on lakeshore avenue, two men with hoodies and masks walked in. a short time later they hopped over the corporate and went for the cash register. the frightened worker ran to the back. the robber threw the register to the floor repeatedly to try to break it open. >> and the kicker is they leave with the cash register and take a donut. i mean how am i supposed to feel as a business owner here in oakland? it's infuriating. >> reporter: the owner declined to show her face for safety reasons. sunday at 7:00 p.m. a man with a mask walked in. he said he had a gun and demanded cash from a worker. the worker complied. the owner says the robber grabbed at least $200 in cash and ran off. there was another robbery back in june.

da lin is digging into the latest case. >> reporter: health officials elevated the flaring to the level 2 incident on the community warning system, there are a total of three levels. health officials sent out an advisory to neighbors, asking to please stay inside because of the odor. by now, this is a familiar sight for neighbors, but the smell, it doesn't get easier over time. >> it smelled like rotten eggs, it was like that fulford, rotten egg thing. >> reporter: she noticed more flaring in the last couple of years. >> it felt like a small earthquake, it was like a rumbling and it went for a minute and then it stopped. then it went again. >> reporter: she said this time her windows did not shake. other number -- neighbors reported something similar to the health department. >> it's not just today, it's the accumulative, here we go again, what kind of damage is this doing to my house and my health? >> reporter: the health director said he is frustrated and fed up. they are still trying to figure out why the repeat flaring from the same company. >> the health department is very concerne

da lin has the details. >> reporter: oakland police say they responded to more than 110 homicides so far this year. the latest victim is a beloved security guard. his daughter came by the scene and broke down on the sidewalk. an emotional and gut wrenching scene in front of 7-eleven. a young woman devastated oh the killing of her father. she goes by the name snow and says security guard was 59-year-old james johnson. >> i am talking to them all the time. >> reporter: people were walking past her, so i went up to check on her to make sure she was okay. just after 10:00 on friday night, someone shot the guard from inside the store. police say james died at the scene. snow says her father worked at the store for roughly two years. he lived in the building right behind 7-eleven. he would do that for anyone he cared. >> reporter: she and long time customers describe james as a protector and a kind man. and to take care of everybody here. >> he was a nice man, a trying man, pretty tall. and he would talk to everyone that came in. >> reporter: criminals have targeted 7-eleven stores in oakl
