yesterday we had all-time record high in places like north dakota, south dakota, minnesota hit the 60s in some places. if you have ever seen the movie "fargo," yesterday they were 54 degrees. usually it's the ice box up there. as we head into the upcoming weekend, we'll have wet weather in the southeast. still mild but along the gulf coast you'll have wet weather to deal with. also around atlanta. temperatures will be seasonable if not a little above average. by the time we get to the end of the weekend, that's where we'll see some of the cooler air still settling in over the northern plains. even 37 in chicago by sunday is going to be okay. we have a football game going on in new york, 45 degrees and sunny. beautiful weather there. same for you in boston. the bottom line is there's still no real signs of winter showing up as we head into the upcoming weekend. the only people that have to worry about wet weather is those along the coast. now here's a look at the weather outside your window. we're going to watch temperatures for the most part being on the very warm side. xharle et charl

and up in north dakota from the floods. and when i was flying over north dakota, had the opportunity with the general and a couple congressmen. and as we're flying over, and it was just cresting. in looking at the damages, the general is explaining how many homes and businesses were damaged. in sort of a side mentioned we've really done a good job and haven't lost any lives and working hard, and we saved the school and did this and did that. later i went and talked to the mayor and governor and police, fire, e.m.s. folks and chiefs and command staffs and a lot of people that had been working on fighting the flood in north dakota for literally -- much longer, but this part of it for two weeks. and sometimes i think we miss things and we forget things. but for total devastation, they did not lose one life. that is incredible. if you can view the damage that happened there. and the reason that is, is because they prepared. they took the time. they were exhausted. but they saved lives. devastating, it will take years to rebuild

we were 70 degrees in south dakota in rapid city. mid 60s in montana. people were playing golf and people were playing tennis in the middle of the country north through the dakotas. it was actually warmer in the northern plains than in miami, florida yesterday. yesterday was an incredibly warm day. to emphasize how warm it's been this december and january. now, as we head to the weekend, some of those highs are heading to the east. so 40s and 50s. there is cooler air now dropping down from the north. so we are done with those amazing records out through the northern plains. it will be a warm weekend throughout the southern half of the country, but we will add rain to that. for today, we dropped into the 40s instead of the 60s in areas like montana. in the east, d.c., 53. new york city, 50. that will feel warm. just two days ago we had that windchill of zero. 75 in san antonio. still a lot of warm air. as i mentioned, there will be rain. this is our future cast. the blue shows you where it will snow. the green where it will rain. the white is the clouds.
