dan nathan, how troubling do you this think this is? it's been hitting are new record highs. >> it is potentially troubling but it's not right now. for the last 24 hours, traders were staring at the 50 day moving average and it wouldn't break. it held there. and what did it do late in the afternoon? and then it popped. really on a week that didn't see a heck of a lot of movement, we basically closed the week where we started it. we did see a big move in bonds. like you just mentioned. yields got nailed and so to me, you know, with the vix closing where it did, down in the lows of the week, you know, i think the move in bond yields is really if you want to try to get a sense for where risk is, it was there. one other point, the largest index options trade on the day happened right on the bell and a trader bought 50,000 of the vix september 21 30 call spreads. that was for 70 cents. between 2170 and 30, that's a profit trade. that's one trader saying risk is priced really cheap. maybe it's a good hedge. i don't know. >> what about you? >>

i'm dan ashley. >> i'm cheryl jennings in for carolyn johnson. sandhya now with how long the heat will stick around. >> we are looking at at least three days for the bay area. we will see changes on the third day. live doppler 7hd right now is tracking mainly clear skies. we do have the heat advisory starting tomorrow afternoon at 1:00. it covers all of the bay area in the monterey bay with the exception of the north bay coast and the san francisco coastline. it runs until wednesday at 8:00 p.m. we are expecting warm nights in the hills and highs in the 90s for the bay. mid-nineties to low 100 ace -- 100's inland so we are looking at heat-related illnesses. as you look at the current temperatures we are still holding on to low 70s. san francisco, livermore, antioch just a sign of what is to come. i'll be back with a look at that hot forecast in a few minutes. cheryl? >> sandhya, thank you. the heat could be a crucial factor when cyclists race up mount diablo tomorrow afternoon. >> cheryl if you find knee high stockings along the route of the race

dan, focus on that for a second there. dan, turns out, may be, not all the figures are in when we heard the, .1% growth isn't bad enough, maybe that we actually had a negative growth in the first quarter. aren't those growth worries something that keep you up at night? >> yes. that would be something that would start to concern me. we always hold that, you just need positive growth. it doesn't have to be tremendous momentum in terse of economic growth but you always want it to be on the plus side. if you start to stray over that fence and really regress in those terms, and i think, yeah you could maybe get a bigger pull back within equities. always remember, this is equity market cycle. within any equity bull market cycle you have to give allowances for corrections. i even dare say crashes and "flash crashes." but the bigger picture that those provide tremendous buying opportunity. cheryl: "flash crash," anniversary which is actually today. larry, something else. adam shapiro up in the newsroom has groupon numbers just com

dan nathan's over at the smart board with more on this trade. dan?ions volumes ran hot today. 1 1/2 times average daily volume. it was basically all calls, and there was one trade that stuck out when the stock was around $38, a trader bought the january 42-52 1/2 call spread for 2.18. that trade breaks even at 42.18 up 16% with a max profit of 8.32, up 52 1/2 on january expiration. that's up 38%. when you think about what's going on here, look at this chart. it's just a disaster when you think about all of these gaps. and these are all earnings gaps for the most part. but when we talk about 44.18, this is the break even on january expiration, and the gain, the max gain is up here. it's a wide range for this trader to actually have a profitable trade if things get going. there's 21% short interest here. the company reports earnings next week. and i don't think this trade is an earnings trade. when you think about it, this is the price of options right here. implied volatility is very high. this is not the sort of trade you would do if you thought the
