join us by phone texas lieutenant governor, dan patrick. what kind much -- of reports are you getting in of damage? is it too early for that? >> it is too early. when i watch the reporters doing gret work on the scene, they're report from areas where you can get cameras in. the truth is where the 130, 140 miles-an-hour winds and gusts are hitting, you're not seeing cameras and reporters because it's not possible to uplink. the severe damage is now in rockport and inland of that. we will not discover that until the morning. jon, as your weather team has said all night as i've been following fox on the storm and the information we have as well, i want to put this in perspective. from houston to corpus christi is about 200 miles. we're about 140 or 150 to rockport. we're also 200 miles here to san antonio. what you're diagrams have been on the maps is that storm will go from rockport up to south of san antonio most likely. none of us are for sure. come all the way back down and all the way across to houston. now, that's how big that storm is,

joining us now, dan patrick, lieutenant governor of the great state of texas.ne the count. i have. there are only 15 democrat governors left in the 50 united states. what do you make of that? >> good morning, stuart. great to be with you. well, what i make of it is our policies on a state-by-state basis where republicans have solid control are proving to be winners with the public. the democrats have lost on the national scene, and they're losing dramatically on the local level. during obama's reign almost a thousand democrats were defeated running for the local state houses and state senates and governors and lieutenant governors. out of the 45 lieutenant governors, 32 are republican. we control the attorney general positions, we now are in control of 33 legislatures in terms of running both the senate and the house in these states. and one other state will flip in a few years, that her will be louisiana. -- that will be louisiana. we own the turf state by state, and texas leads the way. we set the conservative example that other states follow. stuart: okay. t

joining us now, lieutenant governor of texas dan patrick.t early. the judge said, no, you can't do that. how big of a setback is it? >> it is not a setback, stuart. actually the law takes effect september 1, which was the plan. our attorney general ken paxton attempted to do in this court was take a preemptive strike saying this is constitutional. we know senate bill 4 which we passed months ago is clearly constitutional because it is based in part on arizona law that was held up by the united states supreme court so we know it is constitutional. when i was with you last week you recall we talk about how many states are held by republicans, republican governors and legislatures and governors, the truth cost of doing business at politics at state level is being sued by democrats. they are out of power. they don't have much clout. every time we pass important piece of legislation that america wants to pass, they sue us. we'll win eventually in court as this goes up the ladder. stuart: but it takes time, doesn't it? you will be sued endlessly,
