we're joined by daniel levy, director of the middle east task force at the new america foundation. good to see you again, daniel. >> my pleasure. >> we just saw in that spot that israel is continuing to expand settlements, but at the same time, we're hearing that netanyahu's government is going to at some point announce perhaps a six-month freeze on building settlements. can you give us some details, explain these apparently contradictory positions for us? >> there is something of a sense of deja vu all over again, a ritualistic attempt to appease from the israeli government perspective both the settler community, a community of 500,000 israelis now living beyond the green line and to please the international community but ends up pleasing no one. it's not an absolute freeze, it's not a confidence-building measure. it's not going to make the obama administration's life any easier, but this is progress of a kind. you have perhaps the most right-winged government in israel's history going some measure towards limiting construction over the green line in the settlement. >> so, how muc

keith daniels live on the scene with the latest. >> reporter: we're live at the brooklyn homes housing community. the fire happened here at apartment number 814. this is what's left, charred, damaged furniture has been tossed out, some with smoke and water damage. now firefighters got the call at about 2:00 today. when they arrived, heavy fire covered the first floor. investigators say a domestic dispute involving a man and two women may be responsible for the fire. police say the women were fighting outside when one of them threw something through a window that may have ignited the blaze. when the fire started a neighbor who thought children were inside the apartment ran inside to try to put out the fire. >> when i opened the screen door, the kitchen was on fire. for me and other resident down here, we pulled the table out. >> reporter: we are back here live. no one was inside the apartment. fire investigators say it's too early to know for sure if a fire bomb actually caused the fire. there were no injuries from the fire but police say paramedics did take the two women to the hospita

keith daniels is live downtown with the story tonight on. keith? >> jennifer, live at the city's only 24 hour pumping station for city vehicles. and city officials believe that gas dale came from here. so far, nearly 70 cruisers have been disabled. tow trucks delivered them to the city's main garage on bit tell street. and to other city garages for repairs. the cars won't start. sputter and sometimes die. the cruisers are among other city vehicles that fueled up at the mid town pumping station over the weekend. officials say trouble started not long after a vendor delivered a shipment of unleded gas, believed to be mixed with diesel fuel. city crews are working overtime to put the cars back on the street. and costing the city thousands of dollars. >> all of this money we are tracking every penny we do. and going after the vendor for the money. so the vendor that delivered that truck, will definitely be paying the bill for this amount of work. >> now, that is if the vendor is, in fact, responsible. the city is waiting for lab tests, to confirm what
