today, we're talking to daniel lurie. we're going to ask him how he plans to take on san francisco's biggest challenges. we'll have that conversation in just a few minutes. but first, a look at your news headlines. san jose police arrested three suspects accused of trying to kill a man with machetes. police released these mugshots as well as surveillance video of the attack. a warning, it's pretty tough to watch. the attack happened in a business parking lot on alum rock back in june. the suspect had some kind of confrontation with the victim earlier in the day, and then later they tracked him down and attacked him. police say one of the suspects was convicted in a 2005 homicide, and was released from prison back in 2018. we spoke with him back in may just a month before the attack, and he told us he had turned his life around through photography and community work. >> i just knew i had to make that stand. and i made the stand, and was going to deal with the consequences. that's the stress work that i did not know what wo
